SALTHOLME SPRING FESTIVAL RSPB Saltholme Reserve, Thursday 20 and Friday 21 April
Join in the joys of spring at Saltholme! The wildlife will be bleating, singing, quacking and cheeping around the stunning reserve. To celebrate we have lots of fun trails, activities and crafts to take part in. Plus, we have a special guest appearance from some unusual animals, Freddie and Bowie. Stockton is a proud market town - join us at our specialist markets which perfectly complement our regular markets held every Wednesday and Saturday in Stockton Town Centre. PRESTON PARK MUSEUM & GROUNDS April - August 2013 Come and visit our transformed Museum and Park during its 60th anniversary celebrations. As well as a fantastic outdoor play area, redesigned Museum, Victorian Street and new Victorian Garden, we have a host of entertaining events for everyone this Spring and Summer. Our Made with Pride exhibition, 2 April – 30 June tells the story of Stockton’s weird and wonderful furniture from a chair with an in-built trouser press to pieces made for Queen Victoria. There is our popular Folk Festival, Bank Holiday Monday 27 May 1pm – til late with the very best local and regional performers. Theatre lovers are also in for a treat. Keep your diary free for Babe the Sheep Pig which will be performed on Thursday, 25 July, 6pm, suitable for 5+. As a contrast there is Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ on Saturday, 17 August, 7.30pm. STOCKTON DUATHLON FESTIVAL Sunday 21 April 2013, Stockton Town Centre and Riverside A new Stockton Borough Council event for 2013, the Duathlon is a challenging but fun run/cycle/run sporting spectacular. Three distances are available: Novice - 2k run/10k cycle/1k run - 9am Sprint - 5k run/20k cycle/2.5k run - 11am Standard - 10k run/40k cycle/5k run - 1pm

TEES REGATTA Saturday 18 May, Stockton Riverside, from 9am
The popular Tees Regatta returns with hundreds of competitors from across the UK battling it out for glory. Come on down and enjoy around 150 races over a four lane 850 metre course between the Tees Barrage and the River Tees Watersports Centre for this fantastic event. You can expect a race every four minutes! You can also enter a team of your own at an indoor community challenge event on 14 April. PRESTON PARK FIRE ENGINE AND VINTAGE VEHICLE SHOW Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, 11am - 5pm, Preston Park
Classic and restored cars plus exhibits to highlight the history of fire-fighting vehicles guaranteed to satisfy even the most demanding of enthusiasts. Attractions include: Monster Truck car crushing action, “Backdraft”, the Wheelying Fire Truck, fire rescue displays, pumping displays, Fireman Sam, craft fair, trade stands and helicopter rides, plus have your photo taken with the 99th Garrison Star Wars Imperial Forces. STOCKTON CYCLING FESTIVAL 2013 Friday 5 July — Sunday 7 July A programme of events for everyone to enjoy… Friday 5 July:
Evening Race Spectacle. Watch some of the country’s fastest cyclists in action in Stockton Town Centre. Saturday 6 July: Sign up and Cycle. Join in a fun and friendly cycling challenge with a “Tour de France” style escorted start. Choose from 32-90 miles. Prices from £15 to £30 depending on distance. Tuesday 30 July - Friday 2 August, Billingham, Eaglescliffe, Wynyard and Teesside Golf Clubs Challenge yourself against the bunkers and water hazards of the Borough's four 18-hole golf courses.
Players can choose to enter individual days or a full, four day event. Using the Stableford scoring system there are both daily prizes and overall prizes for the best aggregate score across the week. Costs £15 per day for Billingham, Eaglescliffe, Teesside and £20 for Wynyard. SIRF 13 will once again transform the centre of Stockton for four fantastic days with the finest street theatre, circus, dance, music and pyrotechnics from all over the world. From large scale and spectacular shows to small and intimate experiences, SIRF will provide many memorable moments for visitors. We start with a dramatic show of metal, fire and music and end with a stunning finale of giant giraffes weaving their way through the High Street to the Riverside finishing with a flourish of pyrotechnics. RIVER RAT RACE Sunday 25 August, Stockton Riverside
The mighty River Rat Race is back. Last year nearly 1,000 people braved the 10km obstacle run around the Tees Barrage. Why don’t you challenge yourself this year? Climb the Newport Bridge, kayak the Tees and of course, walk the plank off the replica of HMS Bark Endeavour. Spectators welcome!
