OPPOSITION PROFILE SHILDON AFC

Shildon were Stockton’s closest challengers and were 2nd when the season was declared null and void. They secured twenty wins from their thirty league games. In the FA Cup, they suffered an early exit in the Extra-Preliminary Round as they went out 3-2 at Garforth Town. It looks to be more of the same as they have kept the squad from last season together. Striker Billy Greulich-Smith and midfielder Daniel Craggs remain key players. Defender Alex White was brought in from Whitby but suffered an injury in pre-season. They enjoyed a good pre-season with five wins from their six games. They beat Sunderland West End, Silksworth, Newcastle Blue Star, Willington and Frickley Athletic by an aggregate of 23-1. They were denied a perfect pre-season when they lost 3-1 to Morpeth Town. In their early meetings, Shildon were on top. They won the first three meetings between the clubs. Last season showed the shift when Stockton completed the double with a 1-0 home win and a 2-0 away win.
