LOKPAL: The origins


• Originated in Sweden in 1809 with the establishment of Ombudsman • The success leads to adoption by Europe and the world. • Today more than 160 countries have the Ombudsman .

• Santhanam Committee for the Prevention of Corruption in 1966.

• Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC): Recommends formation of Lokpal and Lokyukta.
