Deepcar is perfectly located
Set in the stunning Yorkshire countryside, Woodhead Park offers easy access to nature and open spaces. Deepcar is just a stone’s throw from the Peak District National Park, covering 555 square miles (1,438 square kilometres).
Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK and boasts glorious countryside and limitless opportunities for outdoor pursuits and is home to miles of rolling hills, offering sweeping views over unspoilt countryside.
To the East of Deepcar you’ll find Wheata Woods, Wharncliffe Crags (home to the legendary Dragon of Wantley), Wharncliffe Wood and Wharncliffe Heath Local Nature Reserve, where you can mountain bike, take long walks, delight in the rich diverse wildlife, and generally enjoy the great outdoors: none of it will leave you disappointed.
Many local areas cater superbly for cyclists, climbers, walkers, and runners. Once you step outside of your front door, a gentle stroll, a leisurely cycle ride or more challenging options are all immediately possible.
The Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) runs coast to coast between Southport and Hornsea, and is 370 miles long when taking in spurs to Leeds, Chesterfield, York and Kirkburton. Easy gradients and surfaced paths make it accessible for everyone and it is especially popular with walkers, cyclists, and horse riders, and is suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
Coming from the west of the TPT, you’ll spot the steep rock face ofWWharncliffe Crags, a gritstone escarpment, which is characterised as a steep rock face for much of its 2-miles. A more leisurely option is the Tin Mill, which is a pleasant area to walk or fish, located on the River Don, and used by the local angling club. Look out for tree creepers, the great spotted woodpecker, herons, and kingfishers.
Other popular places include Wortley Top Forge Industrial Museum, Wortley Hall, Underbank Activity Centre, Wigfield Farm, Wentworth Castle Gardens, and Worsborough Mill Museum and Country Park: you’ll never be short of things to do or places to visit.
