Medical Man Cave Restore Men’s Health – Aesthetic and Regenerative Health Facility for Men

ccording to the American Academy of Plastic Surgery, the number of men seeking aesthetics procedures has risen 500 percent. Yet most men aren’t attracted to the typical clinic catering to women. Restore Men’s Health Founder and CEO Andy Espinoza recognized the dearth of venues to discretely treat men’s cosmetic and health needs in an environment appealing to their tastes. Two years ago he created Restore Men’s Health, a “Medical Man Cave,” located at 4334 N. Loop 1604, suite 101, between Lockhill Selma and NW Military Highway, in the Bexar County Medical Society building. Restore Men’s Health provides aesthetic health — including facial injections, hair restoration and body contouring using the latest technology and addresses issues in men’s sexual health including hormone replacement, sexual function, prostate wellness, vasectomies and reversals. Orthopedic injections using cryo-frozen allograft cells for joint health also are offered.
himself on camera as he was promoting Restore Men’s Health and realized he was not practicing what he preached. He was 100 pounds overweight, pre-diabetic and struggling with energy and hormone imbalance — some of the problems Restore Men’s Health is designed to address. “I felt like a hypocrite,” he said. “I wasn’t a very good spokesperson for my own brand.” Andy decided to avail himself of the treatments the facility offers to be a better representative of the practice. Now he is a few pounds away from his goal weight, has healthy hormone and blood levels, is full of energy and looks years younger than his
Men are starting to desire the same positive results as the women in their lives. An executive may want to stave off the effects of aging —wrinkles, saggy skin, hair loss — to stay competitive in his field. Another notices he’s missing the pep in his step and seeks to increase energy and improve sexual performance. Clients schedule office visits at Restore Men’s Health during hours convenient to their work schedules, including evenings and weekends by appointment. The décor of the 2800 square foot office itself has a masculine vibe —leather couches, signed sports memorabilia, and big screen televisions on every wall, including in the four treatment and one procedure rooms. Andy realized a year ago that he, like so many men, had neglected his own health. His wake-up call came when he saw

late-40s age. Over the course of the last year, Andy underwent a gastric sleeve procedure to jump start weight loss. Then, as his body adjusted, he had body contour procedures using WarmSculpting (SculpSure) as well as Radio-Frequency (TempSure) to shrink and tighten excess skin. He took advantage of the practice’s hair replacement program – PRP and cryo-frozen cell injections in the scalp to stimulate dormant hair follicles and an ARTAS robotic hair transplant (which uses a technologically guided device to remove follicles from the back of the head and implant them in the areas of hair loss.) Next, Andy had toxin injections and Radio-Frequency (TempSure) treatments to smooth out wrinkles, fillers to contour his facial features and skin and erase the results of many years of unhealthy lifestyle habits like drinking, smoking and poor diet. These contributed to decreased blood flow to many areas of the body, which affects functions including sexual health. The BTL Evive system rejuvenates nerve sensation and increases blood flow, improving men’s sexual function. Other than the weight loss surgery, which helped him lose more than 100 pounds, Andy credits the hair transplant as being the most transformational. “It changed my hairline to reframe my face,” he said, providing a psychological boost that helped motivate him to continue healthy lifestyle changes. Andy documented his transformation journey on the clinic’s Instagram page. Visit @RestoreMensHealth to see for yourself. Routine diagnostic blood work can illuminate patients’ specific health needs, to include cholesterol, A1C (indications of diabetes) or hormone imbalances, even detecting early prostate cancer on a few patients this past year. “These treatments provide true improvement of health and quality of life,” he added. Christmas Choral Concert Invites Community Bulverde United Methodist Church
Its vibrant youth group, Aftershock Youth Ministries, attracts hundreds of middle and high schoolers, providing students a place to enjoy fun, supervised Christian fellowship, study and service. BUMC supports Provisions Food Pantry, the Bulverde Spring Branch Pregnancy Care Center, and Childrens Centre Los Ninos, along with many other local and global ministries.

B
ulverde United Methodist Church, (BUMC) located just north of Borgfeld Road on U.S. 281, has been a fixture on the Far North since 1978. The church’s mission is to Build, Grow and Send disciples for Christ into the world. BUMC is known for its extensive pumpkin patch that draws families to take pictures with the seasonal displays. Wednesdays, the church hosts a low-cost community meal open to the public.
Another ministry that has morphed into a community connection point is that of the BUMC choir. Several times a year the sanctuary choir, under the direction of Music Minister Steve Angle, invites musicians from across the area to join them to present a community choral offering. The fluid group known as the Bulverde/Spring Branch Community Chorus has grown to encompass more than 50 singers of all ages representing eight+ churches. Nothing ushers in the holidays quite like the sounds of Christmas music. The Christmas concert incorporates beloved seasonal music to illustrate a theme: this year, A Prayer for Peace.
Audience members will be delighted by a hauntingly beautiful rendition of Mary Did You Know? as well as a new version of Peace on Earth, as sung by Casting Crowns, and an upbeat, reggae-flare, The Virgin Mary had a Baby Boy. Fans of the familiar will not be disappointed, as the middle portion of the concert features a sing-along of traditional carols. “Singing Christmas music is a real part of many people’s holiday memories,” Steve said. “That’s why we made sure to include a time for everyone to sing carols with the performers.” The Bulverde/Spring Branch Community Chorus will present three performances of the Christmas Choral Concert in the sanctuary of Bulverde United Methodist Church, 28300 Highway 281 N. A Prayer for Peace will be performed at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21; and 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 22. The concert is free, but an offering will be taken to benefit Provisions and cover choir expenses. Children are always welcome to attend, and childcare is also offered for those who choose.

SENIOR MOMENT
Piano Prowess Senior Lives Legacy of Music and Faith By Amy Morgan
J
oy Johnson loved music as a little girl growing up central Texas during the depression. Following a family tragedy, funds were available for piano lessons for only one child, so Joy used her sister’s books and learned to play on her own. Little did she know her musical skills would one day enable her to support herself and her children. Joy’s father was a pastor who also worked as a carpenter. He was killed in an accident on the job when Joy was four, leaving her mother a widow with seven children. The family raised chickens and tended a garden on their property outside of Lufkin until each child was of age to find work. Joy moved to San Antonio in 1964 with two young sons. She took a job at Hammond Organ Studios as a receptionist, learned to play organ, and eventually performed in demonstrations across the city. When the Hammond store closed, Alamo Music invited Joy to become their first female sales associate. She stayed with the company for more than 20 years and set an overall sales record.
Joy Johnson is a self taught pianist who was the first female sales associate for Alamo Music Company. She set sales records at the store during her 20 years of employment.
When her boys, Walter “Dub” and Mark Jones, were in high school, she met Frank Johnson through a friend. They dated off and on for seven years as Joy patiently waited for him to grow serious in his walk with Christ. Eventually, Frank realized what a gem Joy was, and they were married in 1978 by Pastor John Hagee himself. The Johnsons shared 23 years together until his death in 2001. Faith and music have been the hallmark of Joy’s life. She remembers happy days around the piano with her sons — Joy harmonizing at tenor with the boys. Favorite hymns are Great is Thy Faithfulness and Amazing Grace. Both sons embraced her Christian example. Dub was the pastor of Boerne Assembly of God church for 27 years and led Living Sound International, which performed in Europe. Mark has been a Christian licensed marriage and family therapist since 1992. He’s participated in the music program at Cornerstone Church and sang the National Anthem before the San Antonio Rodeo for decades.

HOLIDAY STRESS? 5 Ways To Choose A CBD Product
By Gabriel Lara
C
annabidiol (CBD) is helping improve the quality of life for millions of people with a variety of ailments. From Insomnia to Anxiety to Chronic Pain and Depression, this nutritional supplement delivers natural relief with quick effects and is a very welcome option in a time of massive opioid issues. Here are the Top 5 Ways to choose when considering a CBD treatment. 1. Look for companies that are 100% Seed to Shelf. This means quality control from the farming, through processing, packaging and distributed in specialized stores or websites. With our partners in Colorado, the entire process is guaranteed and verified. 2. CO2 extraction is the purest and most effective form of extraction. It’s also the most expensive. Ethanol is a common extraction method because its cheap and can be
8
done with limited equipment. But it's a flammable solvent that can leave a bitter taste, must be 'burned off ' and begins the stripping of the oil from its natural terpenes and other cannabinoids. 3. Artificial Flavors. Stay away from artificial flavors like grape, cherry, strawberry, bubblegum, etc... These items have such a terrible taste that the addition of artificial flavors is necessary. And its still unpleasant! 4. Full Spectrum vs Isolate. Again, for best results, a full spectrum product will deliver the entourage effect when the whole plant is extracted in its natural form and only contains trace amounts of THC, still under the legal limit. Isolates are just CBD which are preferred by government employees, public servants or anyone who may be subject to a random drug test. Just keep in mind these tests only detect the presence of THC and not quantity. 5. Samples. Any shop worth its salt will offer you the opportunity to sample a variety of products. This includes pain salves, balms, some body care items and especially tinctures. Discover 5 more important ways to choose a CBD product by visiting us online at www.cbdtherapysaves.com/blogs/cbdeducation. At CBD Therapy, we offer a No Risk Money Back Guarantee and encourage you to feel free to visit in-person or call us at 210-4814444 for any questions about this list or about CBD in general. Leadership Legacy Reagan Senior Third Sister to Hold Highest Dance Position
By Amy Morgan
S
enior Emily Kiolbassa is the youngest of three sisters who have not only participated on Ronald Reagan High School’s prestigious varsity dance team, the Diamond Dancers, but also held the top position as Colonel. Despite the legacy of big sisters, Courtney (2014) and Kathryn (2016), Emily landed the position on her own two feet. After watching her sisters, Emily knew she was called to the position, but also realized she’d need to give it her all to make her dream come true. As Colonel, Emily’s in charge of marshaling the team members and making sure every kick and arm motion are perfect. This was Emily’s last year to perform at the football games, and she knows she’ll miss the roar of the crowd. She particularly enjoyed the father-daughter dance although she was a little skeptical her dad would be able to nail the kick combinations. Now that football season has ended, Reagan’s dancers are gearing up for competition season. Upcoming is their annual trip to Nationals at Disneyworld. Emily looks forward to dancing in the Game Day performance, which is set to Deep in the Heart of Texas. “We wear our boots and fringe,” she said. “It’s a good way to represent Texas.” Emily’s family is very tight-knit — her mother chaperones dance team performances and inspired Emily to apply to her alma mater, Texas A&M. Emily was delighted to learn she was accepted into the business school. Emily also enjoys hunting with her father and prizes a Black Buck antelope mount that hangs in her bedroom.
Senior Emily Kiolbassa is the youngest of three sisters who have not only participated on Ronald Reagan High School’s prestigious varsity dance team, the Diamond Dancers, but also held the top position as Colonel.
She credits serving in leadership through her youth group at Holy Trinity Catholic Church as being foundational to her life. “We talk about our relationship with God, and I can invest in things that are truly important." Emily finds inspiration from John 1:38, “The Lord asks his disciples, ‘What are you looking for?'" "I realize the things I value most in life are ways I can grow leadership in others, be a mentor, find joy through giving, build relationships and make the most of every moment.” With her mature attitude and servant’s heart, Emily is sure to succeed in her next steps.

PET TIP
Have a Holly, Jolly Holiday During the holidays, we are tempted with all sorts of seasonal specialities, even for those who don’t usually keep a candy dish or cookie plate stocked at other times of the year. Make sure to keep the treats out of Fido’s reach. Chocolate, especially, is harmful to dogs, as well as anything sweetened with xylitol or containing alcohol. (And at the very least, you don’t want to be cleaning up a mess on the rug just as guests are ringing your doorbell.) Additional people in your home and all the hustle and bustle can be stressful for your furry family members. Allow them access to a quiet space where they can relax and unwind with blankets, food, water, toys and anything else that will be comforting during the excitement. Keep your pup busy with high quality toys and treats that won’t be hazardous to health or happiness. If you don’t mind the noise, you can offer Fido a new squeaky toy to distract him while the kids are playing with their own presents. Watch out for lights, tinsel and low-hanging decorations that might draw your pets toward destruction. Cover cords, unplug lights when you are away, and consider moving enticing ornaments out of harm’s way.

While you eagerly anticipate family gatherings, festive decorations and seasonal food, keep in mind Fido might find them overwhelming rather than inspiring. Here are some tips to ensure a Merry Christmas for you and your furry family members.
Plan ahead if you will be traveling away from home and can’t bring your pets along. If your holiday schedule gets too busy for your usual walk or playtime, or if you know you will be away for extended hours during the day, book a playdate for your pup at camp so he can romp with furry friends. Holiday Countdown Time to Schedule Your End of Year Dental Appointment And if you discover you need fillings or any other dental work, now might be the time to complete that, too. You could have met your annual deductible, which will also renew once the clock strikes midnight December 31. Getting in to see a dentist at the end of the year might seem like an impossible dream, but not at 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics. The office, located right next to the Starbucks at 20122 Stone Oak Parkway, will be open during usual business hours, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, even during the holiday season. They will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the practice will be open until 5 p.m., on New Year’s Eve to make sure there are plenty of appointments available for people to take advantage of every benefit dollar. The holiday break might be the perfect time to schedule a dental visit for all family members. Kids are home from school, and many businesses slow down after Christmas. “Don’t throw those hard-earned dollars away,” said Travis DeZuba, practice marketing director. An added plus, after your visit to 7to7 Dental, your teeth will be shiny and bright for your holiday gatherings, pictures and social media posts. Not only will the hygienists polish your teeth during the cleaning, 7to7 Dental provides trays and a free tube of whitening gel to each patient to encourage continued oral health. By Amy Morgan t’s almost time to wave goodbye to the year 2019. Don’t forget to use your remaining dental benefits as you complete last minute holiday tasks. Most dental plans cover the entire cost of two cleanings, exams and x-rays annually. The catch, benefits expire at the end of each calendar year. You’ve paid all year long for your dental insurance – you deserve to take advantage of what you’ve already purchased.

If you visit the office before Christmas, why not consider contributing to the office’s Blue Santa collection? The 7to7 Dental team whole-heartedly embraces the drive that provides toys to needy children in San Antonio. Co-owners Justin Coke and Tiffany Winburn, D.M.D., encourage employees to participate with fun incentives, including a visit from Blue Santa himself. Last year the practice donated 1700 toys to the worthy charity, with the average employee supplying more than five toys each. 7to7 Dental is a local business, grown in 11 years from the practice of one dentist and six employees. Symbolizing the future, children from across our community helped turn the first dirt to build a hospital like no other in South Texas.
Building for your future On November 2, hundreds of doctors, nurses, families and community leaders gathered to officially break ground on a project filled with promise for the future and the potential to save and improve lives. Opening in late 2022 in the South Texas Medical Center, our new Women’s and Children’s Hospital will be the region’s first and only hospital dedicated exclusively to the unique health needs of women, children and babies. Thanks to the academic medical partnership of University Health System and UT Health San Antonio, it will also be the new home for South Texas’ only program designated by the State of Texas as providing the highest level of care – Level IV – for both maternity and neonatal patients. These designations for University Hospital today, along with its status as the region’s only comprehensive pediatric trauma center, means our patients benefit from the latest medical treatments and technology. Funded with no tax rate increase, this new hospital will be here for you and your family, as part of the only wholly locally-owned and operated health system in San Antonio. Our pledge to you is to build a beautiful, welcoming and healing place where patients and families see and feel the difference of care provided by a team who understands that being attentive, kind and compassionate without exception is really good medicine.
