Spirit-Led Living

More than Surviving - Life Coach Tamara Wetegrove Helps Women Thrive

Jenniferis tired, so tired, of slogging through what feels like quicksand to keep her family going, always feeling defeated and overwhelmed. She longs for purpose and fulfillment in her life. She wishes she could hear from God. But how to break free from patterns of negativity, feeling less than and burned out? Her name could be Jennifer, or maybe it’s you who’s trapped in an unhealthy cycle of perfectionism, procrastination and people-pleasing.

But you don’t have to stay there. Meet Tamara Wetegrove, a certified spiritual life coach, wife, mother, and seasoned entrepreneur with over 25 years of business experience. Tamara understands the challenges of balancing entrepreneurship, family, and moments of self-doubt, as well as the joy of building something meaningful and impactful. With her journey as inspiration, she brings empathy, wisdom, and proven tools to help others find clarity, purpose, and fulfillment. Her transformation inspired her to help other women in mid-life break free from self-defeat and navigate their next chapter of life with intentionality and happiness.

Life coaching differs from therapy in that it focuses on the present and the future. While therapy can help people process trauma from the past, it doesn’t

necessarily help with obstacles they are dealing with now. A coach helps people get “unstuck” by assisting them to identify and break from unhealthy patterns so they can be the version of themselves they always wanted to be.

“As a coach, I’m there to ask questions,” Tamara said. Often, I can see things that might be hidden to you. Then I can guide you to understand how what’s going on internally is affecting your external world – your relationships, well-being and sense of accomplishment.” Working with a coach like Tamara empowers individuals to transform their relationship with God and themselves. This deep inner work brings clarity and confidence, enabling a shift in thoughts and speech that naturally leads to lasting behavioral change.

Tamara's own journey was deeply influenced by the power of coaching with God at the center of the process. “I had the privilege of working with my personal coach, Juliana Page, Founder of The Spirit-Driven Success Life Coach Certification Program,” Tamara shared. “That experience was truly transformational. It revealed to me the truth that I am not the negative things I told myself. I had a choice: to remain bound by my past or to step into change. I chose to change.”

A key component of Tamara's personal coaching is incorporating spiritual growth into her coaching processes. With proven strategies, actionable steps, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Tamara will help you step out of survival mode and into the abundant life God has designed for you. With God, all things are possible! The Holy Spirit brings wisdom to illuminate, faith to move mountains, power to break strongholds. Practicing the spiritual disciplines of prayer and applying the word of God to take destructive thoughts captive and speak truth will clear away the clutter and allow you to hear God’s voice again. You’ll be able to discover your unique purpose and embrace a life filled with peace, joy and fulfillment, Tamara said.

And she’s a living testament to the process. “Once I saw who I am in Christ and how he wants to use me, that changed everything for me. I learned I don’t have to be fearful – he uses each one of us for his purpose to help each other.” Through a spirit-led approach, Tamara will guide you to:

• Experience the Power of Forgiveness: Forgiveness is the key to breaking free from past hurts and renewing your relationship with yourself and others. Guided by the Holy Spirit, you’ll learn to recognize what obstacles hold you back, release them and embrace freedom.

• Step Into Grace: Using a G.R.A.C.E. framework, Tamara will direct you to reflect on how the Holy Spirit has revealed truth in your life, helped you surrender, aligned your heart with divine wisdom and guided you during difficult times. Grace isn’t just a concept—it’s a transformative process of surrender and renewal.

• Renew Your Mind: Proven mindset tools, combined with divine guidance, will help replace old beliefs that have held you captive and create space for transformative change.

Imagine living a life where you wake up excited about the possibilities, confident in your purpose, and connected to God’s plan for you. Imagine thriving, not just for a season, but for the rest of your life.

If you're feeling stuck, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Together with Tamara, you can renew your mind, transform your life, and shift from merely surviving to truly thriving.

Capable Commander

JHS JROTC Student Exemplifies Servant Leadership

Founded more than 110 years ago, The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) has had a long history of training America’s next generation of leaders through its high school programs. Although sponsored by the United States Armed Forces, it’s so much more than a possible steppingstone for a military career. JROTC is better described as a character development and citizenship initiative for youth.

One recent shining example of JROTC’s strengths is Johnson High School senior Christian Gonzalez. Christian serves as JHS Battalion Commander – the highest position as a student. His duties include overseeing the strategic planning and execution of activities to ensure his battalion’s success. Recruitment was Christian’s first task once he assumed the mantle of leadership this summer. He organized a newcomers’ orientation for incoming students to share the JROTC traditions and showcase opportunities to join their co-curricular teams. “This gave them a sense of community and boosted desire to join the program,” Christian said. He may have patterned the week’s activities after the summer camp he attended at West Point. Since Christian has taken command, he’s increased Johnson’s number of new cadets by 23%, with current enrollment at 116.

While Christian hopes to pursue a military career, he noted that JROTC is a nationally recognized program that develops student leadership and character. Christian was named the NEISD’s junior class Cadet of the Year in May 2024, beating peers in an Olympic style competition that included giving an impromptu speech, panel interview, test of knowledge, physical challenges and marching skills. “I felt so honored,” Christian said. Part of his subsequent duties included being tapped by NEISD’s Colonel to give the inaugural address and serve as master of ceremonies at the opening of the district’s new 62-foot rappel tower. The tower, located at Camp Henson, home to the 5th Brigade Raider teams, provides new opportunities for cadets to build self-confidence as they confront and surpass challenges, Christian said.

“The view from the tower can’t be beat,” he exclaimed. High school Raiders develop physical fitness and team building skills as they run, rappel, and overcome obstacles. Christian has been a member of JHS’s Raider team since he moved to San Antonio his sophomore year. He also serves as Team

Captain for the Varsity Armed Drill Team – a group who march, spin and throw demilitarized rifles in a complex routine. He’s traveled with the team for the past two years to national competition.

This recent fall Christian planned JHS’s Veteran’s Day ceremony honoring service members in the community. He recruited retired Marine Antonio Santana to share the mission of his non-profit, Frontline Strong, which provides free mental health services to veterans. Christian was moved by Antonio’s statement encouraging people to take time to listen, “We are all strangers but can learn something from each other.”

Christian also represented JHS at Texas Boys State, a government and leadership program where 1000 boys gather to craft and operate their own state government. Because Christian was sponsored by the local American Legion Post, he was able to attend without expense. He credits his JHS AVID teacher, Mrs. Garcia-DuBravec, for “her invaluable guidance and wisdom in everything I have pursued.”

The second of four boys, Christian hopes to attend West Point to commission as a U.S. Army Officer and follow his father’s legacy of military service. He already has secured a Congressional Nomination from Texas Senator Ted Cruz. A young man with humility, gratitude and ability — leadership and character developed, indeed!

12th Annual Day of Free Care for Adults in Need

Dental Hope is here! People in need of dental care literally wait all year for the day the professionals of 7to7 Dental & Orthodontics set aside to provide free dentistry. This is the 12th year the practice will give away teeth cleanings, fillings and extractions at no cost to 150 adults. By the end of the day Feb. 15, 7to7 Dental’s 34 doctors and 250 staff members will have performed hundreds of dental procedures on patients continually rotating through the office’s 23 chairs.

The day is specifically dedicated to helping adults, because over the years we’ve seen how parents will forgo their own care to prioritize their children, said 7to7’s Director of Marketing Travis DeZuba. Patients look forward to this event – last year one regular started the line outside the Braun Road office door at 4 p.m. – the day before!

Samantha Gonzales, RDH, Braun’s General Manager, has participated for 11 years, and it’s one of the reasons she enjoys being part of the 7to7 Dental professional family. “We touch so many people,” she said. “For an office to close down for an entire day and give back to the community is a big deal. You make a living by what you get but a life by what you give.” She remembers a patient

who needed a tooth extracted. The woman broke down in tears when Samantha walked her out after the procedure. She was so utterly grateful, Samantha said, because she had been in so much pain.

“Hopefully, she’ll return to us so we can get her on a membership plan or work out payments so she can continue to come in before her teeth get too bad. But if not, we’re happy to see her every year at Dental Hope.”

Dental Hope could not take place without the help of partners and supporters from the community, Travis added. 7to7 Dental has recruited professional peers, dental supply companies and local businesses to donate goods and time.

Sponsors include: Mia’s Mexican Grill, Halftime Convenience Stores, CareCredit, Monarch Trophy Studio, Staunch Traditional Outfitters, Anchorbar, High Def Communications, Sol Y Luna’s Creations, Next Level Urgent Care, Colgate, and DJ Stash will be on hand to keep the waiting room upbeat. You can check 7to7 Dental’s website and social media pages to find shout-outs and thanks to all whose contributions make Dental Hope possible.

Lifelong Love

Bully Mix Finds Forever Home

The deflated expression on the rescue pup’s face caught his attention. 27-year-old Mike Morgan looked at the Brindle sitting forlorn in her cage at the George Brown Convention Center. He’d come to the August event to adopt a furry family member. But he didn’t want to make a hasty decision – no puppies – too much work. With 6,000 animals available at Houston’s mega dog adoption event, which one would be his perfect match?

Mike had grown up with canine companions – including his family’s 180-lb Harlequin Great Dane. As a child, he’d even slept on a bean bag on the floor during their ancient Yorkie’s last year. Mike waited until he had time and resources to devote to a pup of his own. He knew having a dog was a commitment. Today was the day!

The 45-lb female with the saddest eyes was optimistically designated a “Staffordshire Terrier.” A family had walked her around, but perhaps deterred by her Pitbull-mix bloodline, decided to pass. “Tigress,” as she was called, looked longingly at him. Mike’s heart melted. As he opened her cage, she launched her sturdy body into his arms. He could tell right away she had a sweet, playful personality with plenty of love to give.

“She was not barking or reactive to the other dogs, she just put her head on my chest,” he said. “I grabbed her fast.” Born on the streets, she’d been fostered through the Fort Bend County Animal Service since April 2024, when she was picked up with puppies of her own.

Renamed Mel Michelle Morgan, “Melon” (in reference to her stocky physique) has found a forever home. Like many now-loved rescue pups, Mel feasts on the finest food and sleeps on feather pillows (or preferably, on top of her human dad.) “She always wants to be where I am,” Mike said. She’s treated like a favorite child – even sporting matching Christmas jammies with Mike and girlfriend, Veronica. And her bumblebee costume won first prize at their apartment Halloween party. “She thinks she’s people,” Mike said.

Mel loves car rides and sharing a charcuterie platter while perched on a bench surveying the scene on her favorite sports bar patio. Mike enjoys spending time training her and continues to be amazed how quickly

she learns – she already recognizes 20 words and responds to seven commands, he reported. At CrossFit competitions “Dad” lifts her up to make sure she can see Veronica perform handstand pushups.

Mel first experienced the beach when Mike and Veronica took her to Galveston’s shores. Mel swam and wagged so enthusiastically she sprained her tail – a condition known as flaccid tail syndrome! Thankfully a few days later she recovered her trademark wiggle.

Mel knows better than to chew furniture or shoes, but her strong jaws can destroy a toy in just a few minutes. She motivates Mike to take long walks around the park and provides the companionship and unconditional love only a furry family member can.

Inspired to add to your pack? San Antonio offers many local rescue organizations and shelters. Veterinarians created SNIPSA to rescue dogs from high kill shelters. SNIPSA volunteers keep potential adoptees in their own homes, where the dogs socialize with children and other pets. This allows foster parents to report first-hand about the dogs’ personalities. The Animal Defense League was founded in 1934. Their full veterinary staff cares for animals prior to adoption. The ADL also offers education programs and opportunities for volunteer service hours. The official City of San Antonio Animal Care Services houses animals suitable for rehoming, offers low-cost services, owner surrender and animal law enforcement. You, too, can rescue a pup and experience the love and loyalty of a canine companion.
