2023 HONOREES

STONEWALL COLUMBUS’ 2023

Linda Schuler Service Award Mark Miller

Dedicated on the occasion of her 75th birthday, May 25, 2021, the Linda Schuler Service Award was created in honor of Linda Schuler in recognition and celebration of her many years of service to Stonewall Columbus and the local Columbus LGBTQ+ community. For years Linda committed herself to ensuring there is a place for our community’s trailblazers by facilitating our Trailblazers program and served tirelessly as the Pride March Chair bringing to march to it’s well over 10,000 participants. In 2021 the Stonewall Board of Trustees was honored to recognize Linda Schuler as the inaugural recipient of the Linda Schuler Service award. An award created to recognize a trailblazing longtime volunteer who selflessly promotes acceptance and community.

For many years Mark has dedicated himself to the LGBTQ+ community here in Columbus and across the region through his engagement with Stonewall Columbus. As a volunteer, member, and donor - with a wonderful gift that helped support the new Stonewall building. Prior to her passing Mark worked closely with Linda Schuler to help steward the Stonewall Trailblazer program to what it is today.

STONEWALL COLUMBUS’ 2023 LEADERS OF PRIDE

GLORIA MCCAULEY • LINDA SCHULER WAHRU CLEVELAND • SHERI TURNER

The Stonewall Columbus Leader(s) of Pride recognizes an individual, or individuals, who use their voice(s) to speak up and out - boldly and loudly in support of members of the LGBTQ+ community in Columbus, Ohio and beyond.

Nominees must have somehow inspired some form of collective action in or around the Central Ohio LGBTQ+ community.

Part of the power of our fight is its history. In 2022 the Columbus community, and our fight, lost some great warriors, creators of history, and this year we are honored to recognize Gloria McCauley, Sharon (Sheri) A. Turner, Linda Schuler, B. “Wahru” Cleveland and a generation of LGBTQ+ elders who laid the foundation for us to be emboldened to dream bigger dreams than they could have ever imagined as our Leaders of Pride for 2023.
