BE'PU' QIBJAJ How did you celebrate? 10 Stonewall Times
Back in March, we celebrated be'pu' qibjaj - Galactic Women's Day - a celebration of womanhood and female power! Klingon affairs put on a host of events in order to come together as a community to celebrate women all over the cosmos!
We joined together in discord, chatting and having fun while we all played our female toons with female bridge officers to show that no matter what your allegiance, Women can kick Dino butt too. After an hour or so of fighting, honestly we got so engrossed we lost track of time, we then moved onto the quiz! Our Ted overlords, or Tedverlords as I like to call them, put together an amazing STO Chat based quiz for Stonewall fleet members centered all around Klingon Women. It was a tense battle. That night not only did you show us you are warriors in fighting but also PADD Warriors too!

After that, we had a Fashion Contest! A Stonewall Staple if you will. The day was a day of positive empowerment and to show that anyone can slay, be it on the runway or with a Bat'leth. We only had one category; There wasn't one! Pick your theme: Girl Power, Feminist Icon, or even Warrior Princess. Impress me, and save yourself from elimination! ... Wait, no, wrong show. It would be a celebration without drinks! Can someone pass me the blood wine? No? Ted what do you mean we are out? Well what about the blood rum? No? Prune juice? Well what proof is that? You know what never mind.

To round the night off, we held a Ground PvP Melee Tournament! After all Bat'leths are a girls best friend. We found out who is the best fighter of the night!
Ouch that’s gotta hurt! The battles were long, hard, and clashes of steel could be heard throughout the staging area. However when the drums stopped, and the sun rose, only 3 remained. @NikoLunus, @Tomatoflames & @Janeayjaneway. Who took 1st , 2nd and 3rd spot respectively. Some of you may have asked themselves what the #CreativeArt hashtag is all about. It's our new gathering place for your art and the art of all the other fleeties you might know or not. We collect the artworks under a monthly changing theme and exhibit them in our new digital museum, the Stonewall Corner for Contemporary Creative Art. So far we had three months running with exhibitions to the following themes: February 2021 - Pop music of the 20th & 21th Centuries March 2021 - Mars March April 2021 - First Contact The motto theme for May 2021 will be The Dark Side, under which you can express your ideas for your favourite villain or hostile enemy, a catastrophe or natural force, or even a parallel universe or dimension of some kind. The only important thing while expressing your fantasy is that you let yourself guide you by our rules: ·
Every form of art is welcome. This can be a picture, a video, an audio-file or anything else that is uploadable to the forum thread.

It’s time to bring to an end SGNs donation drive! As I mentioned in the main post of this event, a donation drive hasn't been done for about 6 years when Voleron was the guy in charge of the communities prize vault. He left it stocked up nicely to last us this long. So as time went on we were steadily depleting our stockpile. But with the generous donations of others like Robin, Tlara, Joey, Kiki, Chi, Coolclonk, Callumjw, Seannewboy, Chipz, Lars, Georgiedawg, knightchucky plus more.. We’re on hand to keep stock up since we launched the Stonewall Credit store a few years ago. 1) Hi Niko! Welcome to this virtual social grilling, I mean uh, interview. Cal couldn’t make it, so in proper Klingon fashion, I got rid of him to take his place so you get to chat to me today!

Well it’s very lovely to have this chat with you today... though why am I facing the wall and chained to it? Not really complaining, some of my best times and memories come from facing a wall and chains. Well since you have me like this does not seem this cat can get away without saying anything today.
2) Let’s start with the basics, could you tell me about yourself?
I am a cat in a bio mechanical body cursed to live out my days in this form. Also I love soups. Oh about me hmmm well I’m an Aries, barefoot walks on the beach or in old growth woods are amazing to me. I love cats, I’m an ordained priestess sadly lacking a coven right now. I am a parent with many grey hairs. Oh I am poly with two amazing loving partners one who will be my wife here once everything is planned. My eyes are the best feature on me, the one system that was not a bug.

3) How have you been coping in 2021?
2021 has been challenging, though holding onto the thought that my fiancée will be moving in with me soon has kept my head high through everything.
4) What games / hobbies are you currently playing with?
Not so many hobbies at the time, mostly just been trying to get back into shape, shed some of the 2020 weight and get back into sparring condition. As for games it’s been D&D, Sea of Thieves and Warframe lately. The rotation of events keeping me floating between games while keeping up with everything in STO.

5) Now it seems very fitting you being part of the Klingon department, but for those that don’t know, could you tell our lovely readers about your skills with weapons!
I have been practicing Kendo, and Sabre Fencing since I was a child, lately have been focusing more on staff fighting and learning to use a shield finally. I am not a great fighter most days will hold even with those I spar against.
6) Do you remember how you found out about Stonewall? How did you first join? I was in one of the early large fleets of the game, and had met someone in that fleet that was also part of stonewall. There was a lot of internal drama at the time so moved fleets and have been with Stonewall ever since. Though this was also back when the game had just gone free to play.
7) What’s the most enjoyable thing about being in SGN?
Everyone that I meet, I have made some good friends; some that have left the network other still in it.

9) What’s something you never leave without?
Up until they were lost a few weeks ago I never left the house without the pentagram my ex gave me, and a silver cat pendant my fiancée gave me. Just never felt right outside of the house without wearing them. Along with those my collar though sadly that grew too old to keep wearing .
10) Favourite Trek series / movie? TNG/Lower decks I don't have a fave movie yet from Trek yet.

15) What’s it like working with other Klingons? / The Klingon department You would think it would be fighting screaming blood and well... many heavy objects being hurled and biting. They are rather pleasant though enjoying afternoon tea over some fried Targ and frosted gagh over the bodies of some foolish dishonourable lout.
16) What is your first memory of gaming? Pit fall on my old Atari 2600.
17) Can you tell us anything about your city? It’s a lumber and fishing port city. The furthest westward deep water port in the United States, and part of one of the oldest rainforest currently. Not much of that forest remains though sadly.

18) What’s something you miss that you never thought you would? This is hard to answer, there are many things that could fill this question. Many of them sad. I think an easy answer would be going to the gym... yes that’s a safe easy answer.
19) Do you have any future plans or dreams right now?
Just planning my wedding, getting back into shape.
20) Any final words for our avid readers? Coffee with chocolate milk and honey is amazing, keep a little bit of amethyst with you to ward of negativity or just because it’s pretty, love yourselves more, pick up a new hobby even if your bad at it; it’s the experience of doing it that matters, Cats!, Did you drink enough water today?

FORTNITE SGN’s inaugural tournament
You may have heard about this gaming phenomenon called Fortnite that your 10 year old nieces and nephews play, but it’s not just for kids... or maybe it is and we here in the SGN have just never grown up. Fortnite started out as one of those many games that a few people in the community started dabbling in a while back, but it wasn’t until this last year with the pandemic lock-down measures that a lot of us started finding ourselves having some extra time on our hands to try out different games, and now Fortnite is taking our community by storm!

My personal journey with first person shooter (FPS) games hearkens back to the days of Wolfenstein, Doom 2, Duke Nukem 3D and, Star Trek: Elite Force, and of course, the unforgettable Unreal Tournament 2004 (UT2004). Years ago, there was a group of us within SGN who played UT2004 regularly on our private server but as the years passed and the game became more dated, I never bothered to really fill the FPS void in my life, nor did I realize that one existed.
Of course, we’d all heard about Fortnite these last few years and some community members twisted my arm to give it a try shortly after launch, but the building mechanic seemed too bizarre a deviation from the warm memories I had of just plain, old shooting people. The experience didn’t initially take until 2020, when the community’s Fortnite following started to grow and I’d see people gathering in Discord channels to play. So come autumn of 2020, I figured I’d give it another try. After an excruciatingly large update, I jumped back into the game and after a few solo rounds, was getting the hang of it. After a while, I convinced my partner Julien to give it a try and next thing you know, we were hooked and teaming with community members nightly.

After a few months of playing with varying degrees of success, I came to realize that many of us SGN players were at a skill level that could occasionally make it difficult to compete with people in public matches (presumably kids who probably should’ve been in school). Reflecting on all the fun I had playing FPS games with friends in the past, I started on a vision for creating a fun, communitybased tournament that would generally give us an opportunity to compete with players of a similar skill level and have fun doing it. The first step was to find a good map that could accommodate a modest number of players and after checking out a lot of options, I came across I did a lot of research and settled on Island Royale (creative code 3682-13432919 if you want to give it a try), a minibattle royale solos map for 16. I posted a sign-up for the tournament, not sure how many people I’d have sign up, but a solid dozen did right off the hop, with the remaining four spots being filled in the weeks that followed. For fun, I created an access pass (pictured) for everyone who signed up, to give it a legit, tournament feel. This was originally just going to be a fun graphic that I posted of everyone’s character skin, but as the tournament date drew closer and Julien and I were
getting hyped for the big day, Julien started messing around with a card printer he had access to. We soon realized that we could create amazing looking physical copies of the access passes and offered to send these out to participants. In total, we ended up sending out seven access passes and we were pretty thrilled to see how well they were received. On the event day, all 16 of our competitors turned up, and we played a total of 12 matches over a span of nearly four hours, in a double-eliminations style tournament to arrive at our top four winners! The tournament was as much a social event for the participants and those who chose just to watch our Twitch stream of the event, (screenshots overleaf) as it was an actual competition. We had a great time as a group, had some epic moments in the matches, and the feedback for what started out as just a small project has been so overwhelmingly positive that we’re going to run another one sometime this summer! We have big plans for how to make the next tournament even better.
