“It’s in the Blood” for me speaks of family and a passion for the land - being a fifth generation dairy farmer still milking on the land that the Galaxy cheese factory started on in 1917 by my great great grandfather. Having a passion for land and animals is something I hope to pass on to the 6th generation. Farming in the Manawatu has it’s challenges, one of them being weather but it’s great to know whatever is thrown at us, my family and staff are wearing purpose built gear from Stoney Creek that we can trust. Alice is the third generation to come through the impressive Muller Station, Marlborough - located at the head of Awatere Valley. Located in one of the most rugged and remote climates New Zealand has to offer, Alice and her full-time team of dogs, spend their time shepherding between some of the country’s most remote high country stations with part of her year spent over on a large run in Australia. There is no doubt that Alice gives our gear a good thrashing. Whether she is mustering with her dogs, trekking horses or scoping out game, Alice loves getting amongst the outdoors no matter what the weather brings. The Women’s Thermolite Jacket has been Alice’s staple, helping her through the blistering cold winter months of the south.

Quartz Hill is well known as a tough place to farm. Located in the snow sock underneath Mount Hutt .Snow can sit for long periods in the winter with extremely cold temperatures the valley was as low as -19 last year. Out of the valleys and up on the tops the station is extremely exposed to the north wester and ever changing high country environment, this combined with the finishing farms where more intensive strip grazing takes place on the crops creates the ultimate testing ground for all products.

Like all farmers, Henry and Erin live and breathe the farming way of life. They understand what it is to be resilient and have experienced farming during tough times where weather extremes often set the rules. For the last two seasons Henry and Erin have played a vital role in testing our gear and have been instrumental in the development of our Wet Weather gear, in particular our Hard Yards range. Henry has provided us with the valuable insight we require to help develop the right purposebuilt rural gear to get out and do what needs to be done regardless of extreme weather conditions.

LAND USE: Dry stock STOCK: 15,000 ewes, 1000 cattle SIZE: 3100ha CLIMATE / ENVIRONMENT: Central Plateau high country. Harsh volcanic abrasive soils. High elevation and exposure to regular snow and wind with long winters.

Mounganui Station is managed by Cam and Linda with their three children and based in the high central North Island. The Station’s location is known to have long winters and is exposed to fast changing weather throughout the seasons. This environment creates the perfect testing ground to put our insulation range and layering systems to the test. The new Isobar has excelled in this environment.

Regarded as one of the most isolated stations in New Zealand, Muzzle Station is owned by Tina and Collin Nimmo and run by daughter Fiona and Guy Redfern. As an integral part of the Stoney Creek Rural Test team, we’ve been working closely with the team at Muzzle to in the continued development and innovation of Stoney Creek’s purpose-built rainwear and insulation ranges, ensuring that they perform in these harsh high country environments.

Set in the heart of Linton, Manawatu, Galaxy & Braeside Dairies is owned by Braeden and Caroline Whitelock. Their team are out in their wet weather gear for long periods of time and have set the standard extremely high for what purpose-built dairy farming gear needs to stand up to. The heavy silt is tough on gear when wet for prolonged periods and provides a great testing ground. The Whitelock’s also have 4 boys who love their hunting, just as much as their farming and rugby.

DURABLE WATER REPELLENCY (DWR)

To extend the life of the garment and for best performance, use a small amount of non-scented LIQUID detergent. DO NOT use powder detergents, fabric softener or chlorine bleach. Powder detergents include artificial scents, UV brighteners and abrasives that will reduce the life of the garment.

Clean or wipe down any dirt, blood, sweat. Ensure your rainwear layer is fully DRY before you store it away. Storage, ensure that the environment where you store your garments in a dry damp-free place. Ensure rainwear items are hanging up and not stored in a cram bag or screwed up in a heap.

If you notice that the water is not beading off the outer surface it’s time to replenish the DWR. Wash your jacket through a standard wash cycle (use liquid detergent), then you can wash it again using an in-wash DWR replenisher (at 30°c) OR a spray on DWR Replenisher. Dry the garment at a LOW temperature in a tumble dryer or air dry.

After use, footwear must be cleaned with cold water, allowed to dry in a cool or warm place - DO NOT dry with excessive heat - then waxed or conditioned again. The maintenance of leather will help prevent drying, shrinking and cracking.

WARRANTY We guarantee our products will be free from material and manufacturing defects for 1 or 2 YEARS (depending on the individual warranty for the product). If it is under warranty we will repair it free of charge; if it is not practical to repair, we will replace it. The warranty does not apply to ordinary wear and tear, neglect or misuse of the product by the user or the natural breakdown of colours and materials over extended time and use.
