StonFlow Installation Guide

ACHIEVING THE “LEVEL BEST” FLOOR

STONFLOW INSTALLATION PROCESS StonFlow is a self-levelling, pumped cementitious screed used to correct construction defects prior to the installation of other floor finishes. StonCor utilizes 3-D Laser Imaging and high accuracy construction lasers to ensure precise installation of StonFlow. When coupled with our fleet of sophisticated pumping equipment, we can quickly level a floor with minimal downtime and inconvenience to site operations and follow on trades. Step 1: 3-D Laser Scanning On major projects and/or where floor flatness is of utmost importance, 3-D imaging is utilized to scan the floor prior to the installation of StonFlow. This produces an accurate “Map” of the floor condition and can be used to check on the tolerance of the final floor (if required) once any work is completed. Step 2: Surface Preparation – The Foundation of Success Stonhard believes that floor preparation is one of the most important steps when planning for a successful installation. This is why on every single StonFlow application we use our in house Blastrac Team to prepare concrete surfaces prior to any installation. Blastrac machines fire metal shot onto the surface of the concrete to remove laitance, old coatings and debris. The shot is magnetically recovered and at the same time dust is separated and transported pneumatically into large vacuums. Blastrac is typically 99% dust free.

Step 3: Determining the Extent of the Levelling Cutting edge laser technology is used to transfer the information from the 3-D Scan onto the floor. Stonhard uses some of the most accurate available (portable) laser equipment including Spectra Precision UL633 laser heads and HL750 Laserometers, giving an accuracy up to 0.5mm over 10m (1/16th Inch over 100ft). Utilizing a site datum, the outline of areas requiring levelling are transferred onto the floor. Setting Depth of Pour Continuing to use the UL633 & HL750, we are able to set the depth of pour by measuring the deviation of the floor based on our predetermined datum. We use a grid system suited to the degree of accuracy required by the needs of the project and self-adhesive level pegs to mark these points, which are then individually cut to length.

Step 4: PRIMING OPTIONS Several priming options are available depending on the final finish and speed of application required. These include: PRIMING PRODUCT

FLOOR TYPES

ADVANTAGES

OP2 Latex

Sheet Goods/Vinyl. Ceramics & Timber

Low cost “wash primer. Suitable where pin-holing does not cause issues with other finishes. Single day application.

Epoxy Primer & Broadcast Aggregates

Epoxy Coatings & Trowelled Mortar Systems

Reduces pin-holing by sealing substrate, which creates a clean environment for pumping. Typically adds a day to application.

Wet on Wet Epoxy Primer

Epoxy Coatings & Trowelled Mortar Systems

Reduces pin-holing by utilizing an epoxy tack primer, allows for a single day application.

Step 5: pumping stonflow Stonhard operates a fleet of pumps utilized for the application of StonFlow. We have two types of machines which can be deployed depending on the site conditions, available power and quantity of product being applied. The Delta Mini Machine can be operated on 220V single phase power and are ideal for smaller projects. They easily fit through a doorway and are wheeled for easy transportation around site. Our larger machines are Utiform Quattros and require 600V three phase power. These are suited to larger projects where the greater output (approximately twice the amount of the Delta Mini) and slightly less arduous cleaning procedure allows for easier multi-day applications. Both machines mix and place the StonFlow Screed; dry powder is fed into the top of the machine and then mixed with water, run through a secondary mixing chamber and pumped as a fluid self-levelling screed through delivery hoses and onto the prepared, pinned and primed floor. StonFlow is spike rolled to help release any air from the product and pumped to the tops of the pins. Typically it is possible to walk on StonFlow 3 to 4 hours after pumping is complete.
