Car Park Policy

Policy for students driving cars to school St Paul’s welcomes students driving to school in their own cars. However members of staff and parents have contacted us with their concern as some drivers are leaving school at irregular times and with passengers. The safety and well being of our students is of utmost importance to you as parents/guardians and to the staff in St Paul’s. To ensure the safety and well being of all our students the following criteria must be addressed and respected by all student drivers: 1. All cars must enter the school premises by the Staff Entrance only (Newry Gate). 2. Students who drive to school must arrive at 8:50am to ensure they have time to park and be in registration at 9:00am. 3. Students’ cars must be parked in the top car park above the football field. 4. Students must register their car at reception, as with all members of staff. A formal registration form must be completed before the car can be parked on school premises. Two copies of the registration form must be completed and signed for approval. 5. Students are not permitted to carry passengers other than members of their own family. 6. Students must not leave the school premises by car at any time of the school day without a formal written request from parent/guardian as per school policy. 7. Students who drive to school cannot leave the school premises until 3:30pm to ensure the safety of walking students.(Health & Safety Regulation) Any student who does not respect the guidelines above will not be allowed to continue parking their vehicle on the school premises. •

Arriving late (after 8:55am), leaving early (before 3:30pm), leaving school at lunchtime by car without a formal parental request, leaving school at any other time without permission, entering or leaving by the wrong gates will be sanctioned by after school detention and the parking facility will be temporarily removed. Taking other students off the premises will be sanctioned by suspension and the parking facility will be removed permanently.

Parents/guardians must be aware of their responsibility in allowing their son/daughter to take a car to school. St Paul’s cannot accept any responsibility for the young drivers, their passengers or their cars. We request that parents/guardians assist with ensuring students are aware of their responsibilities as drivers. Yours faithfully
