FOREWORD Each year brings a new sense of hope and satisfaction as we greet again our Year 14s from the previous academic cycle. They return very much young citizens and are now immersed either in Third level studies or in some other chosen pathway. They have taken their first steps as independent adults responsible for getting up and out in the mornings and pretty much catering for their own needs. There is a discernible change in them from their days of school uniforms and their individuality leaps out as they go up on stage to collect their certificates or awards. There is a great sense of pride and fulfilment in the staff in that we have been privileged to play our part with their parents and guardians in preparing them for their present and their futures. Prize night is always about celebration, the sense of overcoming barriers and achieving goals, it is a night to be savoured by all because all have completed a special segment of their lives. I want to wish each student the very best for their future, I am proud of them and of their teachers who have worked so hard so that every student could grasp success. Education is all about partnerships and relationships, the healthy and active partnership between student, parent and teacher selflessly working towards a common goal and the relationships forged on Christian values of mutual respect and tolerance encapsulated within a strong work ethic. I urge our graduates to live their lives to the full and to always remember that each one of us has a vital and indispensable part to play in society and that we are responsible for our own actions. Value others and always do your best, when we fail as we often do, then get up and have another go. You are all special and you are all needed and you are all very much part of St Paul’s.
