FORMING MEN FOR OTHERS
Through the commitment and efforts of all members of the learning community –students, parents, staff, alumni, friends, and board members – our students develop into competent, conscientious, and compassionate men for others prepared for post-secondary education and subsequent leadership in the community.
A St. Paul’s High School education is based on Cura Personalis. This principle means ”care of the entire person” which is designed to form whole persons, through the enriched and challenging academic program, the engaging and intensive spiritual and religious formation, and the great variety of athletic, cultural, artistic and intellectual activities.
This commitment to total formation of the mind, body and spirit is a trademark of Jesuit education. Not just head but heart, not just body but soul – the overall well-being of the whole person.
WHEN YOU WALK ACROSS THE STAGE TO RECEIVE YOUR DIPLOMA, YOU WILL BE:
Intellectually Competent Open to Growth Religious Loving Committed to Justice
A “GRADUATE AT GRAD”
-St. Ignatius of LoyolaJesuit education works towards a future where every human being and all peoples can live with dignity, security, and be able to develop their cultural creativity and seek to reach their dreams
WHAT MAKES A JESUIT EDUCATION DIFFERENT
A Jesuit education seeks to transform how youth look at themselves and other human beings, social systems, societal structures, and the global community of humankind. It recognizes the developmental stages of intellectual, affective and spiritual growth and helps each student mature gradually in all these areas. Thus, the curriculum is centered on the person rather than the material. within which students can grow into young adulthood with an increased sense of self-awareness and how they can impact the world around them positively and effectively.
This intensive formation teaches students to reason reflectively, logically, and critically via the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, an inquiry-based, holistic approach to learning and teaching derived from the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. This framework of experience, reflection and action, is used to challenge students and their worldviews to allow them to become effective leaders in their communities.
TEACHERS IN A JESUIT SCHOOL
At St. Paul’s High School, faculty and staff are more than academic guides. They accompany youth in their moral and spiritual development, helping each student to grow their self-worth and to become responsible individuals within the community.
To best serve the needs of our students in an ever-changing world, faculty and staff participate in frequent and comprehensive professional development, both locally and with our affiliate Jesuit schools across North America. Staff collaborate and continually develop enhanced teaching methods, techniques and best practices to address the needs of a contemporary education.
ACADEMICS
Central to the mission of St. Paul’s High School is the preparation of young men for post-secondary studies and subsequent leadership in the community. As a Jesuit, Catholic school our curriculum has been developed in a way that stimulates our students’ imagination and desire to learn, encourages them to make positive and meaningful decisions, and provides the groundwork that promotes lifelong learning.
St. Paul’s High School exceeds the requirements of the Manitoba Provincial High School curriculum. With the many elective courses available, students have the flexibility and opportunity to explore subjects that interest them and prepare them for the next step in their education.
Every student is partnered with a guidance counsellor for the duration of their time at St. Paul’s so that they can achieve their highest potential and make informed decisions about their future. Students receive individualized care in order to develop positive study habits, select appropriate courses, examine future career opportunities and discern the right university, college or postsecondary opportunity.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT
The Advanced Placement (AP) program underscores our philosophical belief that young-men should be encouraged to take self-directed academic risks that challenge their intellect and foster their growth as lifelong learners.
Students may take AP courses and examinations in order to earn course credit at the university level. Students can choose from Advanced Placement courses in Mathematics, Language Arts, French and Physics.
AP courses are designed for students who are ready to learn and achieve at the highest level. In addition to experiencing the challenges of a college-level curriculum, AP inspires confidence, a sense of personal responsibility and self-reliance, and provides an academic bridge to ease the transition from high-school to university.

INVESTMENT
When St. Ignatius and his followers founded the first Jesuit schools almost 500 years ago, they challenged the prevailing norms that offered a top-tier education only to those who could afford it.
Instead, the Society of Jesus mandated that Jesuit institutions be open to all qualified students, regardless of socio-economic circumstances. The Jesuits recognized an exemplary education is the most powerful and effective means of improving lives, forming leaders, and instilling the importance of serving others.
St. Paul’s High School remains committed to making Jesuit education accessible to all.
