Dear Prospective Students and Parents, Peace of Christ!
On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I welcome you and express our gratitude that you are considering our community.
By joining our community, you will become part of a very long tradition of education offered by the Society of Jesus. When the Jesuits opened their first school in Messina, Italy, in 1548, they revolutionized the educational model by combining the two educational systems of the time: the medieval university model, where students studied law, science, math, philosophy and theology and the Renaissance humanistic academy, which focused on Greek and Latin poetry, drama, oratory and history. St. Ignatius of Loyola saw the apostolic value of forming young people to be leaders in the Church and the world. And so, this illustrious educational tradition was born.
And now, over 470 years later, the Jesuit tradition continues in schools around the globe. At St. Paul’s High School, young men are formed to be Men for Others through the enriched and challenging academic program, the engaging and intensive religious formation, and the great variety of athletic, artistic and intellectual activities. This commitment to a total formation of mind, body, and spirit is a trademark of a Jesuit education.
Parents, by pursuing admission for your son, you are expressing your desire that he be formed according to these values and perspectives and according to this tradition. Understand that this will require your support and participation in the educative process of the school.
Candidates, by participating in this application process, you indicate your willingness to make your best efforts to grow, learn, and shape yourself according to these values and perspectives within the Jesuit tradition.
For our part, we commit ourselves to give you our best. If you successfully gain admission to the school, we assure you that you will have every opportunity to succeed and develop yourself fully into the adult God calls you to be.
I wish you every grace and blessing in His name.
Sincerely,
Kevin Booth ‘78 President, St. Paul’s High School
