American Stage in the Park is back for its annual outdoor production at Demens Landing on the downtown waterfront. The musical classic “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast” is this year’s offering April 3-May 5. Tampa Bay Blues Fest is back April 12-14 at Vinoy Park on the downtown St. Pete waterfront. Artists include Grace Potter, Beth Hart, Tab Benoit, Blood Brothers (Mike Zito & Albert Castiglia), Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials, Altered Five Blues Band, Robert Jon & The Wreck, Coco Montoya, Bernard Allison, Ally Venable, Cash Box Kings, Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets, Southern Avenue, King Solomon Hicks and Bywater. Kickoff party on Thursday, April 11, 7 pm at the Palladium featuring Mike Zito and Albert Castiglia. General admission $70 plus tax and fees, VIP tickets available. The ever-popular Mainsail Art Festival takes over Vinoy Park on April 20-21. Mainsail is one of the premier arts festivals of the year in the ‘Burg, featuring some 250 fine arts and crafts exhibitors from across the country in a juried competition. Browse and buy high-quality ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography, sculpture, paintings and more. A children’s craft area, student art show, live musical entertainment, and a food court all beckon from 9 am to 6 pm Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday. St. Petersburg’s annual Arbor Day celebration, the Green Thumb Festival, returns on April 27-28 at Walter Fuller Park. More than 120 garden, plant and flower vendors and exhibitors will offer everything under the sun from flowers, herbs and trees to gardening tools and yard art. Look for free pine seedlings; plant, soil and water diagnostics; children’s crafts; education programs; a flower show by Garden Club of St. Petersburg; butterfly tent; a children’s plant fair; environmental resources tent; exhibits by local groups and organizations and more. Downtown St. Petersburg will once again be abuzz with four days of film screenings, parties, panel discussions and workshops with film industry professionals when the Sunscreen Film Festival returns for its 19th year April 25-28. Full-length and short features, including documentaries, foreign, horror, comedy, environmental and children’s programming, will be screened at Sundial AMC 12.
