this place. this home. this sky. lucky stars.
This is your home calling. You might hear it in the silence of the
night sky. The bugling of elks. The gentle tumble of Ranch Creek. Or when Henry, the Ranch’s opinionated donkey, “requests”
a good scratch behind the ears. The Ranches at Devil’s Thumb finds countless ways to say this is your home, and welcome.
For the first time, Devil’s Thumb is opening its gates to
ownership with an enclave of only 24 custom homesites spread across 550 acres. Looking out at peak after evergreen peak.
The Ranches is a community where you’ll feel deeply connected to family, neighbors and nature — as well as the Condé Nast
award-winning resort next door. In other words, our trails don’t just lead to walks in the woods, but to handcrafted cocktails and honey hydration body wraps. This is life at The Ranches.
Colorado at its most Colorado.
NOT FAR, BUT VERY AWAY. —
Welcome to your Colorado. Away from the bumper-to-bumper busyness down the hill. And the fancy veneer of other mountain towns. ( This is Grand County,
after all. Real and ruggedly beautiful.) Here, even though you’ll feel far from it all, Denver is a mere 1.5 hours away. In less than 20 minutes, you can be downhill
skiing at Winter Park. And any summer day could find you paddling or pedaling at nearby Grand Lake, Lake Granby or Rocky Mountain National Park.
HELLO, PERSPECTIVE. —
Life on a 6,000-acre ranch within 24,000 acres of pristine mountain terrain
brings not just views, but perspective. A deeper appreciation for the little things. And a sense that maybe the big things…really aren’t.
FISH. HIKE. SKI. MOVE. As nature writer Jim Harrison once said, “I never get an idea
while sitting still.” Although the beauty of this place can inspire quiet reflection,
more often than not it gets people moving. (And we’re not talking about fingers on
a touchscreen, kids.) Go master your cast on the creek, your paddleboarding on the pond and your woohoos on the zipline. Maybe best of all, though, is The Ranches’
immense sense of possibility. Fueled by nature, imagination and wide-open spaces, your kids can discover — as we once did — the joyful freedom of unstructured time outdoors.
THE MORE VERBS IN YOUR DAY, THE BETTER.
FOUR SEASONS OF DOING. The Ranches is a true ski-in, ski-out community with 75 miles of private Nordic trails to explore. In another season, revisit the trails on your bike or a horse from our stables.
THE NEW RUGGED: A CONCIERGE WITH YOUR MOUNTAIN HOME. There’s
something magical about roasting s’mores with your family over a crackling fire. But nibbling on a filet of our delicious, ranch-raised Wagyu beef paired with a
silky, truffle-y Pinot Noir? That can be pretty magical too. Life at The Ranches
gives you the full spectrum of Colorado fun. As a homeowner, you can enjoy all resort amenities (think pool, spa, restaurants, stables) and activities, from yoga
for you to Cowpoke Camp for your kids. Here, daily life becomes wonderfully
simple with details like airport shuttles, housekeeping, freshly waxed skis and fully stocked kitchens arranged by our concierge. You’ll also receive a complimentary
cross-country ski pass and access to The Hatch, our residents-only fishing cabin.
MEET THE NEIGHBORS. On any given stroll you may spot more than a few of the locals — eagles, owls, foxes, moose, elk and deer. You could also drop
by Devil’s Thumb for a petting session with our friendly menagerie of horses, goats, chickens and other critters. Or mingle with two-legged types at your neighborhood park, sharing picnics and pick-up games of basketball.
HOW TO MAKE A HOME FEEL AT HOME. — It’s a beautiful thing when a home lives in harmony with its setting, as if it’s been there forever. Now, imagine your home nestled among our lodgepole pines, wildflowers and mountain grass. With the deep sense of belonging that comes from architecture that’s authentic to the spirit, history and beauty of the Rocky Mountains. And to Devil’s Thumb itself.
At The Ranches, we’ve established design guidelines that allow for your unique vision — while creating an intimate enclave that feels cohesive, true to place and respectful of natural resources. Feel free to use the builder of your choice, or one we’re happy to recommend.
WE’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN. —
The truth is, there aren’t many places like this left in Colorado — intimate
neighborhoods with roomy homesites and wilderness beckoning you from every direction. So, we listened to our better angels and decided to develop just a
fraction of the land, leaving the rest untouched. And to protect the natural terrain, water flow, dark skies and wildlife habitats. For which karma happily rewards us with soul-stirring open space and mountain views.
The Ranches at Devil’s Thumb grew out of wanting to do things right by
this rare, unspoiled piece of Colorado. To take good care of the people who would live here. And pay homage to the generations that came before — the Utes and Arapaho, the Petersons and Yagers, and so many more.
We hope you’ll join our mission to preserve this land, its beauty,
health and wholeness for generations to come. And along the way, of course, to enjoy Colorado at its very best.
