Åland’s biggest music festival is held on the Mariehamn market square. There is a wide array of artists, with both new stars and old favourites. After-parties with live music are held in many of Mariehamn’s pubs. www.rockoff.nu
Harvest Festival 16–18 September
Popular autumn festival in Åland! Many farms out in the countryside will open their doors to visitors and offer activities for people of all ages, including everything from jumping into hay bales to sightseeing on pastures. Food, drink, local produce and foods will be available for purchase on the farms. www.skordefest.ax
Viking Market 28–30 July
One of the biggest Viking-themed markets in Europe. Viking visitors from the east and west will be landing in Åland. The Vikings live in tents, cook over an open fire and offer a wide variety of activities. Some sing and dance, while others engage in combat. There are several buildings on the market grounds done up in a Viking style and a stately Viking longboat is within walking distance. Ålands Sea Days July
The Maritime Quarter on the Mariehamn waterfront is the headquarters for Sea Days, which offers a host of activities for the whole family. In the evenings, guests can enjoy live music between the storehouses. Visitors can purchase handicrafts, food and drink. www.alandssjodagar.ax
