Getting to Åland

The Mariehamn City Library, pharmacies and Alandica Culture & Congress are some of the public places that are evaluated by experts to gauge their accessibility for people with various disabilities. Sights and accommodations are also included on the list, which can be viewed at https://www.visitaland.com/en/ accessible-aland/inventory/. Check this out before your visit!

It’s easy to get to Åland no matter what time of year it is. Choose between passenger ferries, flights or archipelago ferries.

Åland is very well connected to the outside world. From Sweden, ships run from Stockholm, Kapellskär and Grisslehamn. In Finland, ships run from Helsinki, Turku and Naantali. Åland also has a direct connection to Tallinn, Estonia. Passenger ferries have large car decks and run several times daily.

Viking Line, Tallink Silja and Eckerö Linjen ferries have a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment as well as tax-free shopping. Ticket prices are also affordable.

Flights to Åland from Sweden are made from Arlanda Airport in Stockholm. You can fly from Finland to Åland from Helsinki and Turku.

IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE to take an archipelago ferry to Åland from Finland. There are two alternatives – from Osnäs to Brändö (Åland) on the Northern Line, or from Galtby to Kökar on the Southern Line. We recommend staying overnight in one of the archipelago municipalities before heading over to the main island. If you are travelling to Åland on the Southern Line, you can return home on the Northern Line, or vice versa. This allows you to see more of the archipelago. Passenger ships
