Skating legends Jayne Torvill & Christopher Dean have returned to Sarajevo today (14th February) to commemorate their historic Gold medal winning performance to Ravel’s Bolero at the 1984 Winter Olympics - 40 years to the day. Torvill & Dean also announced today that they will be retiring from skating together in spring 2025, when they embark on their last ever live UK tour: ‘Torvill & Dean: Our Last Dance’

Kicking off at London’s OVO Arena in Wembley on 12 April, this will be the very last chance to see the world’s most famous skating superstars in action on the ice together. The 28 date tour will travel across the UK, culminating at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 11 May for their final performance and their last dance. Tickets go on sale at 8.00am on ‘Bolero Day’ (as Jayne and Chris affectionately call it), 14 February, from TorvillandDean.com.

Following an invitation from the Mayor of Sarajevo to visit the city to mark the 40th anniversary of the Winter Olympics, Torvill & Dean are there today reliving the memories four decades on of their iconic heart-stopping performance which had a UK television audience of 24 million people on the edge of their seats. It became one of the greatest sporting moments of the 20th Century and set a new standard for world-class figure skating.

‘Torvill & Dean: Our Last Dance’ UK Tour will be the last time that Jayne and Chris will perform on ice together, 50 years since they formed their incredible skating partnership - giving audiences one last chance to see and celebrate the iconic duo.

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said: "Following the kind invitation from the Mayor, we are thrilled to be back in Sarajevo 40 years on from that memorable day. Returning to the city which provided such a life-changing moment for us is incredibly nostalgic and brings back so many wonderful memories. We’re also feeling very emotional as we announce our 2025 farewell tour: ‘Torvill & Dean: Our Last Dance’. Whilst we will continue to work together off the ice, this will be the final time we will skate together following our 50-year partnership. But not without celebrating one final time with all of our incredible fans across the UK, who have supported us constantly over many years. We promise to put on an amazing live show – and we really hope to see you there!” Torvill & Dean are back on ITV1 every Sunday night, as Head Judges on the new series of Dancing on Ice.

Toyota launches Power of Choice £1,000 offer, plus free charging wallbox and £500 public charging credit, for new car customers

Toyota gives customers an additional £1,000 to spend on their choice of Toyota products and services when buying a new hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric vehicle in its June Power of Choice event*

Options include increasing the part-exchange allowance for their existing vehicle, choosing accessories for their new car or organising a Toyota service plan or insurance cover

Event runs throughout June for retail customers at Toyota centres nationwide

Additional offer of free home wallbox and up to £500 public charging credit, with each purchase of an EV or plug in hybrid vehicle in June

A special bonus awaits customers buying a new Toyota hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric car or van during June – £1,000 to spend on their choice of Toyota products and services.

The Power of Choice event is different from familiar “money off” incentives.

Rather than tying the customer to a particular saving or benefit, Toyota is letting them choose how they use their £1,000. The options range from raising their new car’s specification with extra accessories to organising a service plan or offsetting the cost of Toyota Insurance cover.

The Power of Choice will only be available during June, with Toyota centres nationwide placing a special focus on the promotion between 8 and 16 June. The £1,000 voucher is in addition to other current Toyota offers (details below).

How the offer works

Customers can claim their £1,000 in the form of a free voucher, obtained simply by completing a short form online at Power of Choice or on their preferred Toyota centre’s website. Alternatively, they can complete a form in person in the showroom.

To qualify for the voucher, they must be retail customers ordering a new hybrid, plug-in hybrid or all-electric Toyota car or van during June 2024. The hybrid choice includes the latest, multi-award-winning Yaris, Yaris Cross and Corolla models, while the plug-in-hybrid line-up offers the all-new Toyota C-HR and the RAV4. The battery electric range includes the stylish bZ4X SUV, the Proace Verso Electric people carrier and the Proace City Electric compact van.

The £1,000 value can be realised in different ways.

For example, the customer can choose to add the full sum to the part-exchange allowance for their existing vehicle, or they can use it to build their new car’s specification with a wide range of practical or stylish Toyota accessories such as alloy wheels, child seats, boot liners and storage boxes.

Alternatively, they can use the sum to arrange a Toyota service plan for their new vehicle, helping with their forward budgeting.

They can also use money saved on the purchase of their new vehicle to offset the cost of obtaining Toyota Insurance cover.

Free home wallbox and up to £500 public charging credit

In addition to the £1,000 Power of Choice voucher, customers buying a plug-in hybrid or electric car during the June event will benefit from a free Toyota HomeCharge EV charger, including standard installation, plus up to £500 credit to use across the Toyota Charging Network of public charge points (£250 credit for plug-in hybrid models; £500 for electric cars).

Jamaica's very own Romain Virgo returned to the Uk for a full tour across 5 cities including London, Birmingham and Manchester. I was able have an exclusive interview with the lovers rock reggae star upon his arrival into Birmingham, where he awaited for the arrival of the rest of his live band. Ready to perform hits songs including 'Soul Provider' , 'Good Woman' , and 'Stronger', the singer was also looking forward to sharing some of his new releases, including the single 'Driver'.

Upon arrival in London, the singer expressed that the weather was "chilly" and as they continued to head north, temperatures dropped. Even though it's rainy and hurricane season in Jamaica, Romain exclaimed it's still quite the adjustment.

When asked, how he looks after his voice during tours, the singer said, "eat food and sleep" that's how he preserves his angelic vocals. Accompanying him on the tour are two talented sensations on the rise, Tori Lattore and Janeel Mills, who come with incredible vocal and performance ability. The ladies complement Virgo's style really well a they will have you feeling every word and beat.

Romain excitedly shared how he's 3 -year-old twin girls are already expressing a great interest in music as they explore with the piano at home. He said " I've never showed them how to play" and "it's a good sign" as they freely explore the love of music for themselves. He also explained how being away from home can be emotionally challenging but with the support system and "village" back home he knows he's girls are content.

As we took time to reflect on Roman's journey, the 33 year-old who has been a global sensation since 2007, assures us there is still so much more ground to break. The artist who is a proud Reggea singer, speaks of near future prospects with Afrobeat artists. "We love afrobeats and as you can see the world is loving afrobeats", as the singer alludes to upcoming projects. This is increasingly becoming a more common experience, which we love to see.

Romain Virgo expressed how important it is for his music to reflect his personal life, especially as a family man. In a world that is ever introducing new styles, he is proud to be part of the preservation and advancement of the authentic reggae culture.

"Even if you can do it well, at the end of the day you know this is not me" as the singer speaks on other genres.

Romain also expressed how important it is to have people around him who have his best interest and can help keep him on his path. "There's nothing that I want to say in music that I do t live". Not only does the singer inspire many through his music but also through his family life.

Through his relationship with his beautiful wife Elizabeth, many are inspired as they generously share some family moment on Instagram.

FEATURING EXCERPTS FROM MIST, JAYKAE, REMTREX, STARDOM, LADY LESHURR, SAFONE AND MANY MORE

Birmingham based agency PUNCH Records announces the release of its latest venture, a 5 part mini documentary series and book entitled ‘LEGACY’ - set for release on November 15th 2023. The synopsis of both the book and the documentary series lays in exploring the untold stories of Birmingham’s Grime, Hip-Hop and Rap scenes - the artists who have been responsible for, and have influenced the Black music scene; allowing many more new genres and artists to follow in their footsteps.

‘LEGACY’ boasts a stellar line-up of artists, tastemakers and entrepreneurs who are ingrained within and have helped cultivate the music scene in Birmingham, these include the likes of: A Class, Badness, Big Mikee, Bowzer, C4, Deadly, Despa, Ghetts, Hitman, Invasion Crew, Jaykae, Lady Leshurr, Malik, Mayhem, Mist, Preditah, RM, Remtrex, Ras Kwame, Roxxxane, Saskilla, SafOne, Sian Anderson, Sox, Stardom, Swifta Beater, Logan Sama, Trilla,Vader and many more.

The themes explored through the book by co-writers Jess Monroe and Casey Bailey include the history of the Birmingham Black music scene, the evolution of radio and other platforms, the producers who influenced the UK sound, famous clashes which caused viral moments and key highlights and cultural moments that made 0121. Jess Monroe has been a key figure in the midlands music scene for some time now - on Legacy, she steps out as the key author and interviewer for all talent. Alongside Jess as author is award winning writer, performer and educator Casey Bailey, also hailing from Birmingham. Other key figures involved in the book include photographers Jamie Drew, Jonathan Williams and designer Ryan Killeen - most known for his work with the MOBO Awards.

Excerpts from the book:

"It's not as hard as it used to be. I had to leave Birmingham to make a name in London. You don't have to do that now” Lady Leshurr

“When I'm done, I’m gonna get seen with the likes of Mike Skinner and UB40. I'm good with what I'm doing. I know I'll go down in history in this city.” Jaykae

“For me growing up, it was normal to hear and say ‘apnas’ and ‘karlas’ - that’s the Brum lingo. I remember first hitting the national scene, you know as Brummies, the accent gets peppered. We get slaughtered when it comes to the accent ting. I think Karlas Back helped with that”. MIST

“Back in the day, for a Brum artist to breakthrough in London felt like a UK artist trying to break America. We really had to bully our way in and make enough noise.” Continental GT

“No-one has lasted like me. I’m still relevant, I’ve adapted. Nearly 20 years I’ve been putting out music to a high level. I’ve gone through different eras, consumers market places, platforms.” Stardom
