My Sister, In Her Memory

Ode To Victim

Victims retreat from self respect Losing self esteem; needs they must correct. Worthless, hopeless these feelings stand tall, Hear the words echo, “I must deserve it all.”

Alone in need their hearts at a loss, Violence and abuse become their boss. A cry for help, a plea in despair, Should they bother? Will anyone care?

Identity lost, aching and forlorn, From all walks of life you’ll hear the call.
