BOARDMAN only imports top quality MDF and chipboard melamine faced boards directly from PG Bison in South Africa. The boards meet international standards for quality and excellence and there’s a huge range of colours and finishes available to suit the most discerning tastes. Of course there’s the ubiquitous white melamine which has almost endless applications and fits any décor scheme. Then there’s a wide range of accent colours which are mostly neutral shades that can be easily combined, there are a variety of wood grain finishes, as well as matte, super matte and high gloss options. For bigger quantities Boardman can even accommodate customers’ orders for other more unusual colours which are not regularly kept in stock.
Boardman opened in 2019 with the vision of providing superior products and services at the most affordable prices. In order to achieve their goal they have invested a substantial amount in the most up to date, computerised machinery directly from the renowned SCM Woodworking Technology based in Italy. They have the SCM Sigma beam saw which is accurate up to a remarkable 1/10mm ensuring unprecedented precision. The customer’s cutting list is entered into the machine’s computer which then automatically works out the best way to fit the pieces onto the board in the most efficient way with the least wastage. Minimal wastage means the savings can be passed on to the end user.
The beam saw is supplemented by the SCM Olimpik K560 Edgebander which, as the name suggests, fixes the edging strips to the cut boards. This new technology fixes the edging strips so accurately that the join is seamless and almost invisible. A cut and edged board looks like a single solid piece of material. In addition the edges are ever so slightly chamfered so there are no sharp corners. With other conventional edged boards the corners tend to be the first place where the melamine veneer starts to peel or chip but Boardman’s state of the art machines ensures that your boards will look perfect for years to come.
SCM Woodworking Technology sent out a team of certified fitters from their distributors in South Africa to assemble the machines and to provide training for the operators. They also visit Zimbabwe about every six months to service the machines and ensure that they continue operating to the highest specifications. Boardman currently has a team of 10 highly skilled, well trained staff in the factory to efficiently fulfil orders from a one-off order to bigger bulk requirements for contractors and furniture manufacturers.
Apart from their superior quality edged boards Boardman also stocks an exclusive imported range of related hardware like door hinges, drawer runners and handles, so they’re a one stop shop for cabinet and furniture makers as well as for smaller DIY projects. No order is too big or too small and you can be assured of the best quality product at the most competitive prices.
