St. Thomas Family Dedication Service

Hearty Welcome to

Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos Episcopa

“For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father from whom every family is heaven and on earth derives its name” (Ephesians 4:14-15) Mar Thoma Church always gives importance to family and its involvement in the functioning and growth of parish. The church observes as family Sunday on 23rd October. Considering the time availability of our parish, will arrange two days for our families to be in the church. The members of the family may sit together and take part in Holy Communion. This will be arranged on October 28th Friday at St. Thomas Centre and November 1st Tuesday at NECK Hall of Peace. Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos will celebrate the Holy Communion on 28th Friday.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Theethos Episcopa, Bishop of Kunnamkulam – Malabar Diocese will be with us from October 23 – 28. Hearty Welcome.

Family Dedication Day

Family Dedication day is also an occasion of Thanksgiving of each family for God’s Protection, guidance and abundant blessings. So it is our esteemed privilege and responsibility to share our material blessings to the Lord as a token of or dedication. As the Minister of our parish my sincere request to all of you is kindly give YOUR ONE DAY INCOME on this particular day as an expression of your love and commitment to the Lord our God.

From the Vicar .... Dearly beloved in Christ, Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The month of October is an important month for our St. Thomas family. We are celebrating our family get together, family day, parish convention, youth day etc. during this month. 1) Youths: Agents of the values of the Kingdom of God Youth hood is a time of full of potentials, possibilities, vigour and creativity. So youths are called not to be inactive but to be active with God in the transformation of the world. Youths should try to develop a counterculture instead of surrendering themselves to the negative forces of globalization and media culture. Youths should not escape from the responsibilities but to be with God as co workers in the transformation of the world. Youths are called to be the promoters of the values of the kingdom of God where the values are denied and enslaving powers are dominated. Our task is to critically evaluate today’s enslaving forces and to be the propagators of the values of truth, love, justice and peace. We are celebrating October 14th as youth day. 2) Family: Celebration of Relationship The basic values that we cherished for ages in our families are eroding and are replaced by the value system that are promoted by the dominant hegemonic structures of the present day. tragic incidents are witnessed in many of our Christian families these days. In such a context we need to rejuvenate the biblical foundations of marriage and family life. God is the foundation of our family and relationship in the family should be a covenantal relationship. Mutuality, togetherness and unconditional love are very essential in our family life. Family is also a space for faith formation and celebration of relationship. Family as the miniature of the kingdom of God, its members should always uphold the values and practices of the kingdom of God. Our St. Thomas parish is celebrating its family day on October 28th. Just like last year Agape family fellowship (mutual visit between two families) are arranged this year also. We will collect our one day income during our family day service. All earning family members are requested to contribute prayerfully. 3) Word of God forms and transforms us “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow, it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart”(Heb.4:12). Word of God forms, transforms, strengthens and guides us. Parish convention is an occasion for listening and responding to the word of God. Convention is for the edification and transformation of the community. Our parish convention is scheduled from October 24 to 27. Rt. Rev. Thomas Mar Theethos Episcopa is our main speaker.
