Farewell to Dear Sunil Joy Achen A Shepherd, Leader, Visionary, Friend Leaving Kuwait on 30th April, 2016

Dearly Beloved in Christ! Greetings to you in Christ’s name! Penning words of ‘salutation’ for St. Thomas Messenger has come to its close but the spirit of friendship in our heart to you will remain forever. As we are leaving Kuwait on April 30th, 2016, may we take this space to bid farewell to my St. Thomas Family cherishing the bountiful goodness received from you under the matchless blessings of the Almighty. Looking back to the tenure of my ministry among you I am indeed grateful to God for His blessings and His plan in me. God said to the prophet Jeremiah, ‘For surely I know the plans I have for you….’ Our ministry in Kuwait for the last two and a half year has been a memorable for us. We have prayerfully submitted ourselves to fulfill the will of our God, extending our love and care to each member individually. The highlights of activities, as myself being part of them, are: Save us (Charity), Becoming to bear- (Charity), Prayer Times (special prayer meetings for the needy), Agape Family Visit, Chat with the Vicar, Devesan Yesuparan (Christ Event - musical prog.), Altar Boys, Blood donation drive, the Handel’s Messiah Music Concert, Camp Visit, Mission Visits (Vijayanagaram & Asha Bhavan), Harvest Fest, Family get-together, Yesu Mahonnathan (Kidney Charity prog.- Centre Edavaka Mission), Marubhoomiyile Maramon, Samooha Vivaham (Kuwait Centre) and other socio-religious St. Thomas Centre Tel : 2564 7060

activities. I extend my sincere thanks to my dear members, my office bearers, Kaisthana Samithies, organizations, and prayer Groups (2013-16) for the prayerful support. We enjoyed the love and affection of the St. Thomas family that God has given to me for shepherding. With His gifted moments in our life I, self along with Sheeba, Keziah and Philip, am thankful to God the Almighty and to our parishioners, and earnestly looking forward to your continuous prayers and blessings. 9th Parish day and Inauguration of the Decennial celebration 9th Parish day and Inauguration of the Decennial celebration of the Parish was held on Thursday 31 Mar 16 at NECK Church and Parish hall. His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mathoma Metropolitan and His Grace Rt. Rev. Dr. Yuyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa were the chief guests during the parish day. Parish Secretary welcomed the guests and in his presidential address, Vicar Sunil Joy Achen extended gratitude to all Parishioners, Kaisthanasamithy members and the Office Bearers of the current year and the past 8 years for the excellent contributions and services rendered by each of them for the Parishâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s growth. Methrapolitha Thirumeni in his Inaugural speech reminisced the good

support and services received from the Parish. His Lordship exhilarated the Parish to consider long term projects which brings in good value to the Parish and Sabha and to consider partnering with other Parishes in the Middle East to realize the Middle East Mar Thoma Centre at Bahrain. Yuyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa released the decennial logo (drawn by parish members Shri. Rogie Ninan Samuel and finishing art work by Shri. M. V. John). Students who have successfully completed their examinations during academic year 2014-15 from class 10 and class 12 were honored during the function.

GRATITUDE

We are completing nine years of existence as Kuwait St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church and we thank God for entrusting us with the opportunity to serve Him in various capacities as office bearer’s team during the 9th year of the parish. As we reminisce, we are extremely grateful to Lord Almighty for the strength and guidance imparted on us to successfully serve the parish. We attribute the unconditional support and prayers of St. Thomas Family as the strength and force that has enabled us to contribute for the parish. Nonetheless, it’s needless to say that a key contributing factor to our strength was the quality leadership and guidance of our Vicar Sunil Joy Achen. Although we too have come across the ups and downs during the journey through the year, we believe we have satisfactorily lived to the expectations of the parishioners, in implementing the tasks entrusted on us from time to time. Thanking Lord Almighty for making it possible through the prayers and support of the parishioners and Kaisthanasamithy members coupled with the willingness to join hands in meeting the parish’s needs. Now, as we have come to the end of our tenure, we want to express our gratitude and high appreciations to each and every members of St. Thomas Family for strengthening us with your prayers and support. FAREWELL TO VICARS

RINO QUIZ WINNERS

St. Thomas Team consisting of Mrs. JOLLY MATHAI KOCHUMMAN, Mrs. RACHEL CHANDY & Dr. ALICE KURIAN came in the first place at the first version of ‘Rino Memorial’ Bible Quiz Competition conducted by Ahmadi Mar Thoma Church on 11 Mar 2016. The team was awarded a rolling trophy and KD 100 cash prize.

FAREWELL Farewell meeting was held on Tuesday, 15 Mar 16 at St. Thomas Centre, Salmiya after the Holy Qurbana service, to bid farewell to Rev. V.S. Skaria (Vicar, Kuwait St. James Mar Thoma Church, Rev. Sam T. Koshy (Vicar, Kuwait City Mar Thoma Church & Rev. Samji K. Sam (Vicar, St. Peter’s CSI Congregation, Kuwait). Parish secretary Shr. Christy Thomas welcomed the guests and gave felicitations to the transferred Vicars on behalf of St. Thomas Family. Vicar Sunil Joy Achen in his felicitation speech, praised the close cooperation and support received from all three Parishes and thanked the Vicars for their excellent support to Kuwait St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church. St. Thomas Family’s gift was presented to the three Vicars by Trustee Shri. Abraham Mathew.
