A SPECIAL WINTER ON AND OFF THE SKI SLOPES

The snow-covered forests and mountains in the Stubai are the promised land for many fascinating varieties of winter sports. Even though the Stubai Valley with the Stubai Glacier, Schlick 2000, Elfer and Serles cable cars is known for having what it takes for skiing, you don’t necessarily need skis on your feet. The splendour of winter presents itself in many different dimensions in the Stubai Valley: sometimes contemplative and reserved, sometimes wildly romantic and fascinating, sometimes completely untouched and unspoilt or challenging and thrilling.

TRAVEL ON THE STUBAI MOUNTAIN RAILWAYS - SAFELY

The mountain railways in th Stubai Valley have taken great care and every precaution to ensure your health is maintained as we transport you up the mountain. A safe distance of at least one metre is guaranteed in the waiting area and all valley and mountain stations have been sufficiently equipped with disinfectant dispensers. Please note that you are required to wear a face mask in the gondolas.

A RELAXING SKI HOLIDAY IN THE STUBAI VALLEY FOR SURE

From your arrival from Innsbruck to the check-in at the hotel to skiing: the Stubai Valley puts safety and health for the coming winter first and is doing everything possible to offer its guests a relaxing holiday.

Arriving early in the morning at the train station in Innsbruck, the transfer is ready and waiting to take guests to the Stubai Valley. Even if the driver’s smile is not visible under his face mask, it can be sensed from the friendly greeting. Guests wear their face masks and sanitise their hands before the hotel shuttle leaves for the Stubai Valley. Bus drivers and passengers also wear face masks on the “590 Stubaital” public bus route that connects Innsbruck railway station to the Stubai Valley every half hour.

CORONA-COMPLIANT CHECK-IN When you arrive at the hotel entrance, the signs already indicate that you should wear your face mask at all times everywhere inside and that you should also observe a minimum distance of one metre from other people. In the entrance hall there is already a hand sanitiser stand available, which indicates the way to the reception. After check-in, a receptionist will introduce guests to the special features of their hotel stay. They explain that the seats in the restaurant are allocated and remain the same for the entire duration of the stay to guarantee a traceable process. They will be happy to answer any questions and clarify any uncertainty. The owners of holiday apartments, bed and breakfasts and private owners are also well prepared. The Stubai Tirol tourism association has offered all accommodation owners training in corona prevention and hygiene with the traditional Tyrolean hygiene specialist Hollu.

STRAIGHT TO THE SLOPES WITH THE ONLINE TICKET Before you start, tickets for your day’s skiing on the Stubai Glacier – but also for skiing lessons – can be booked online in advance or bought at the advance booking offices to avoid queuing at the bottom station and to start your fun in the snow even sooner. You then head for the ski area by ski bus including your face mask and observing the minimum distance. Anyone who has purchased their ski pass online can scan the ticket code stored on their smartphone at the machine and then print the ticket. For anyone who does not have a ski pass yet, there is of course also the option to buy a ticket at the bottom stations in the Stubai ski resorts and pay for it cashless. The waiting areas at the bottom stations have been made more spacious so it is not difficult to keep your distance. It is once again necessary to wear your face mask and to observe the minimum distances. One more tip: the Stubai cable cars have multifunctional scarves available at the ticket offices, which not only warm up the neck really nicely when skiing, but can also be used as an ideal face mask during your day of winter sports.

TAKING THE GONDOLA TO FUN ON THE SLOPES To increase the distance between queuing snow sports enthusiasts, every second turnstile has been closed in the bottom station on the way to the gondola. It should be

WALK-IN SUNDIAL ON THE ELFER

The high plateau above Mieders is already a very special place and easily accessible with the Serles cable cars. Due to its unique location between the Stubai Valley and Wipp Valley, the Miederer Berg offers an unobstructed view of the peaks of the Stubai Alps, the Kalkkögel, the Karwendel mountain range with Innsbruck’s Nordkette and the Tux Alps. Winter and snowshoe hikers appreciate the many touring possibilities and cleared hiking trails in this extensive area. A photo of the largest walk-in sundial in the Alps or perhaps the most beautiful view through the Stubai Valley – the choice is easy. Both can be combined at the Elfer cable car top station. The impressive larch wood construction not only shows the time, but also offers an unsurpassed view. The

MIEDERER BERG
