The Brock Collection ◦ The Brock Collection is a women’s luxury ready-to-wear label founded by Laura Vassar Brock and Kristopher Brock back in 2014. The Los Angelesbased house was established by a couple with a shared aesthetic intellect. The couple both draw equally from a sun-kissed, natural élan and a sophisticated, down-to-earth composite of beauty.
◦ The fall 2019 Brock collection has always has luxe fabrics which we’ve come to expect, the collections floral silks and brocades. In this collection the fabrics are noticeably simpler and less decorative shapes. Backstage before the show, Laura Brock said “she’d wanted the clothes to exude a stronger, more straightforward confidence”. Which is right fulfill so any women can feel powerful in a slip dress or ruffly corset, but this look isn’t for working women-- this is what makes the brock collection special. The Brock Collection keeps in mind the working women. The Brock collection Fall line has soft tailoring and mix-and-match separates felt just as special, but would be easier to wear for working women. 6

Alexander McQueen: Sara Burton ◦ Sara Burton the designer for Alexander McQueen is where she got her start. Sarah Burton and Alexander McQueen worked very close together. Sarah Burton grew up in North of England, one of five artistic children who was dressed, as she remembers, “in my brother’s hand-me-downs— hence the longing for beautiful clothes!”. ◦ Alexander McQueen fall 2019 collection had sharp, inventive tailoring. There
are trouser suits with a strong but narrow shoulder in which a drape of wool flows from the nipped waistline with a selvage. The Collection showed two types of suits, built of two different scales of pinstripes or checks. Which gave off both classical and slightly punk look. For example: a tuxedo jacket with an elegantly slashed shoulder, and another in black wool silk with fuchsia satin sleeves, draped to resemble cascading flower petals. The Fall collection also had flower print dresses of black and fuchsia taffeta, which was constructed by a “thicket of tucks at the bodice from which explodes wild yardages of fabric sculpted to resemble enormous roses”. This technique creates a simple manipulation due to volume of fabric, it creates fascinating creations.
