MULTICULTURAL CENTER
TONGLERERESCHE AKKERS NEIGHBORHOOD IN EINDHOVEN This is the project from the first year of my Bachelor’s degree. The assignment was to design a Multicultural center in Tongleresche Akkers, a residential neighborhood in Eindhoven. The center was supposed to have: multifunctional hall, small cafe, toilets, two offices, storage room and changing rooms. This is the design of a small pavillion where people from the neighborhood could meet, spend time and share culture, customs and traditions. Since this was one of my first projects, I drew a lot of drawings by hand, without using softwares.

This is the front view of the pavillion. Even though this is one of my first projects, it is still one of my favourites. The reason is because it shows simple and gentle building, and a mixture of natural materials: wood and glass. The pavillion is also quite free to transform since it has quite a free floorplan and a simple facade. This drawing also shows the wall behind the pavillion and trees trying to cover the wall.

PROJECT 1 YEAR 2: URBANISM PROJECT
BOSCHVELD URBAN PLAN
MASTERPLAN OF NEIGHBORHOOD IN S’HERTOGENBOSCH The project task was to design an urban plan for part of a neighborhood Boschveld, s’Hertogenbosch. On the east side of the plan is an old car factory called “Grasso”. The rest of the surrounding is mainly residential. BRINGING LIFE TO BOSCHVELD Since the culture is very strong in this neighborhood, but mutual interation is not, building a Community center would combine these two concepts. It would improve the diversity and binding of inhabitants. This new common place, with a park would present some kind of a bridge between really industrial and residental part of Boschveld. Creating a hipster and alternative environment for young families and students, with respect to the industrial architecture and current inhabitants of the neighborhood. The vision could berealized through three aspects: DIVERSITY, FACILITIES and ARCHITECTURE.

PROJECT 4 YEAR 2: ARCHITECTURE PROJECT
PHILIPS FRUITTUIN GUEST HOUSE DESIGN OF A SMALL GUEST HOUSE IN EINDHOVEN
This is the last project from the second year of my Bachelor’s. The assignment was to design a small guest house at the plot surrounded by apple fields. The owner of the plot is also the one who owns the apple fields and produces all the apple products. Philips Fruittuin is located in Eindhoven, in a natural environment and a lot of greenery. Since the owner cared a lot about sustainability, the only allowed materials for the new guest house were: glass, aluminum and wood.
PORTFOLIO | Jovana Ivanović

CONCEPT
The guest house is composed out of two parts, public, or receiving, and private, for rooms. Hence, there are two facades on this building: more closed, thick one, and light, open one. This facade division should direct to important view points, and close the parts that are not important visually.

FACADES
This building is a mixture of elements that both fit the context, but also create a contrast. For example, it is all made of wood, glass and aluminum, with pitched roof. On the other hand, the floor plan and the facades make it really stand out from the surrounding. Two parts of facade are visible, as intended in the contex: more transparent part with a focus to the inner garden and apple fields, and more closed part which still allows interesting experience of light.

MULTI PROJECT YEAR 3: MULTIDISCIPLINARY PROJECT
IPKW HOTEL AND DESIGN SCHOOL
DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR A PART OF IPKW, HIGH-TECH CAMPUS, IN ARNHEM The last project before the Bachelor End Project was the Multidisciplinary (Multi) Project, the project done together with four other disciplines. I was one of the three architecture students in the team, and we worked in a group with studens from: urbanism, real estate, building physics and structural design. The assignment was to design a sustainable proposal for a design school and a hotel in the High-Tech campus, IPKW, in Arnhem, Netherlands. This is an industrial, innovation site. The main stakeholders wanted to provide interesting, sustainable and progressive living in the area, and their first stage was developing a school and a hotel. The main concept of our design was: to INTEGRATE, by combining different elements into a whole. This design was chosen for TOP 2 designs, by Municipality of Arnhem and the investors, out all fourteen groups from our university.

THE HOTEL Since the floorplan is “U”shaped, the facade was designed to reflect the floorplan. The “U” is integrated into the facade in two ways: horizontally and vertically. Horizontally by wooden layer, Vertically, with concrete cladding envelope surrounding the wooden part. Since this is an industrial site, the facade was designed using some of “industrial”rules. “Form follows function”, like Louis Sullivan said. In the hotel, the ground floor is completely made of glass, since it has a public function. Further, the wooden facade also contains all the windows of rooms. Finally, concrete part “hides” the less attractive functions such as toilets, utility, storage.

THE SCHOOL
Projet task was to turn the old factory into the design school. The history of the building was used in the design concept. It was integrated in the layout, routing and the facade. The school building used to be a ryon factory. Ryon is a fibre used to produce cleaning cloth. The old building was perserved, except for the wooden extension and glass windows on the roof.
CONCEPTS
The production process was used to design the layout of the school. In the ryon factory, the process was divided into three parts: education, production and transportation. There was also a hierarchy of the education: primary education for employers to learn how to produce ryon on the bottom, then testing of the product in the middle, and research about improvements and material on the top. The floorplans follow these two divisions horizontally and vertically. Design School

HOBBY
ART My most loved and biggest hobby is art and drawing. I enjoy everything related to Art: making of it, learning about it, observing it. I mostly draw architectural motives: houses, buildings or urban sketches. Usually, I work with fineliners and markers. The following pieces are done in my free time, and are non-related to the courses.
