PRINT DEVELOPMENT
my objective when i began designing my prints for this collection was to create a number of prints which would integrate easily within the three sub groups in my collection (smart casual / casual/ transitional sports wear). I studied the images from the discovery museum closely and choose sections of the garments which i believed would create interesting repeat patterns. For my collection i would like to subtly present these prints in a number of my designs, i want to keep the use of print subtle and masculine as to not overwhelm the designs themselves. i also found it interesting when generating these prints how much each print reminds me of a certain fabric composition. The zig-zag prints reming me of wool twills in a herringbone pattern, a fabric that would sit well in my smart-casual collection. The very first print reminds me of a fish net or perhaps a neoprene sponge netting, something i could use in my sports wear.
