Industrial Heritage This project involves designing a garment and producing a concept book inspired by The Industrial Heritage of Ireland. The Guinness Factory, Jameson & Sons, Bunmahon Copper Mines, Killmacthomas Mills, Flahavan’s and Croke Park have inspired me to design a luxury sportswear collection for men. This project explores every stage of taking a fashion product to the market – from consumer research to design and promotion. Further research and development lead to my idea of a detachable neoprene and airtex mesh collection, while using the different shapes of lapels to create seam line designs throughout the range.

Luxury Sportswear Jacket This is the Luxury Sportswear jacket that I am currently constructing. I am working with black neoprene fabric for the body of the jacket and orange airtex mesh for the detachable sleeves. The airtex mesh will also feature inside the jacket as there are concealed pockets down the side seams. The jacket is inspired by the shapes of lapels that I came across while researching and discovering the Industrial Heritage of Ireland. The body of the jacket is sewed together using the cover stitch machine and finished using the laser cut machine leaving raw edges. The shoulders in the jacket are dropped and there are zips attached to these short neoprene sleeves while the airtex mesh sleeves hang under and are finished with an elasticated wristband.
