the Indus trial herit ageof irela nd

This concept book celebrates the Irish industrial heritage, a legacy that grounded the way for how we live today. The remains of the industrial past can be seen throughout Ireland: railways, copper mines, Mills and factories still in use all bear evidence to the work of past generations. There is much to celebrate about Irelands Industrial Heritage, for example Guinness was the largest brewery in the world. The Guinness Brewery, Bunmahon Copper Mines, Kilmacthomas Rail Viaduct, Flahavan’s, The Old Red Iron Bridge, The Old Mill Kilmacthomas, Jameson Whiskey and Croke Park have inspired and informed many design features and details for a men’s sportswear collection. The book is divided into several stages, which set out the nature and relevance of the industry. Inspiration was taken from the first seven stages where silhouettes, textures, colours and features evolved and developed.

take a cool, dry guinness branded glass and hold the glass 45 degrees under the tap. pull the handle fully towards you and slowly straighten the glass as you fill it. stop when glass is 3/4 full and leave the surge to settle allowing the creamy head to form. to finish the perfect pint top the glass up by pushing the tap handle away from you and stop when the head is proud of the rim.

Guinness drinkers are loyal and they only expect the best. The ‘Perfect pint’ is a tradition that has been around since 1759.

the body of the jacket is neoprene. all pattern pieces have no seam allowance. the body of the jacket will be constructed using the cover stitch machine to attach these panels together which create the lapel and waistcoat inspired detail to the jacket.

The edges of the jacket will be welded leaving neat raw edges around the neck and raw hems on the neoprene short sleeves and at the bottom of the jacket.

the sleeves are airtext mesh and are detachable. the airtex mesh will also feature inside the jacket as there are concealed pockets down both side seams.

An open-ended zip down the centre front of the jacket.

An elasticated cuff to finish the airtex mesh detachable sleeves.

this is the construction of a neoprene mens sportswear jacket. research and development lead to the idea of a neoprene luxury jacket with detachable airtex mesh sleeves. the different shapes and sizes of the lapels and waistcoats worn by the factory workers, the hurling team management and the everyday man throughout the 18th century inspired the creation of the seam line features.
