Shibori / A well known indigo dying technique in Japan. Most popular in a period called Edo, where lower class people could not afford silk. Most recently popular techniques that have surfaced in denim are boro and sashiko.
Japan use a lot of patched and re-worked textiles, whic__h they call boro textlies. Drawings I have re-created of these can be seen on this page.

Levi has been one of the number one denim brands for many years now. The Levi 501 jeans first started back in 1982 and to this day they are still being made and sold across the brand.

Moulage After looking back at my work I found I had worked a lot with sharp structures that contrasted with the smoother twsists and wraps I have also looked at in my research. Creating shapes on the mannequins has given me ideas for silhouette and garment structure.
