japan 2019

during a week, 37 architecture students and 4 design professors, travelled through Japan.

6,5 days, 135 km walking, 33 trains, 7 boats, 4 busses, 40 bikes, 1 weelchair, 7 cities, 3 islands and 45 projects, gardens and tempels.

the above is a list of what was planned. but when one travels, you meet the unplanned and unforseen.

with this book, we step into the eyes, of each individual.

each traveller selected 1 photograph, gave a title or short discription, why she/he choose this image.

the endresult is a catalogue of the unplanned.

it shows a working method in the second year.

like the white cover, we start each year from blank, with no expectations.

to end up with unlimited imagination.

the starting seminar opens with an image of an eagle, and a call for the students to look, to look, and to look again.

this book and the design results, show that they have.

a bridge may be followed by another, another, another and another.
