UI SUIS-JE ? ESIGN BUILD

Vipassanā or vipaśyanā, in the Buddhist tradition means insight into the nature of reality. A regular practitioner of Vipassana is known as a Vipassi (vipaśyin). Vipassana is one of the world’s most ancient techniques of sitting meditation, the inception of which is attributed to Gautama Buddha. It is a practice of self-transformation through self-observation and introspection to the extent that sitting with a steadfast mind becomes an active experience of change and impermanence. Collaboration was among 12 students and a principal instructor, Shanta Gunawarden. This architectural Design/Build course was unique from a typical design course because students use their own hands to construct their design proposals in the field at full scale thus bridging the theortical design realm of the studio and phyical realm of the world. This bridging promotes futher understanding of the relationship

between representation and physical buildings and emphasizes the exploration of design and construction as reciprocal poetic and technical acts. This way of thinking serves as the vehicle for learning. This design build project was an investigation on how to bring the concept of having a place of peace within the site. Allowed only a two month outline; this phase of the project consist of having to establish a live /work space for the owner, Bhante Rahula and a detached meditation hall. Its design encourage a conjugation of visitors to inhabit its surroundings and prosperity. The overall master plan will incorporate a dining hall and sustainable sleeping units sprawled out through out the sit for long term vistiors. ECHO EN MEXICO

A residentail jewel in development, estimating at 14,000 square feet. This house sits on a beautiful ocean viewing cliff in Puerto Vallarta. Designed for three investors; this house is equipped with four bedrooms, three kitchens, three car garage, a miads quarters, gym/spa, living rooms that extended out to the roof and for different scaled pools that balance out the house. In this project I produced several 3D models in revit and sketchup and including a physical model to better understand its programming thru out the topograph. I also produce construction details for custom door and window application. This project has development my skills and knowledge to better understanding the process of devlopment construction documents. . The cubes of the house represent the single parts of the family, which exist as single individuals and as a complete. The cubes give possibility for individual space, by partly touching each other, partly overlapping and diving into each other, they create semi public spaces in a complex manner. A house that can serve for all possible constellations that can come up in a family life. The materials of the cubes are considered as a contrast of transparent and opaque, reflective ( the inner space and the surrounding) and shining through. All of it shall give teh complex of the building in the end an apperance of simplicity and in the same way a very high complexity inside and in its relation to the ambient.

Upon my arrival to Mexico City, falling into this project; I was able to be able to compose a series of details that enabled to the project to enhance its fullest potential. I was able to established techincal drawings that consits of details on the glazing and doors. Apart from the main residence dwelling I was able to part take on an addition to the house.; which consist of work studio and garage. In the development of of Petaquilla and Chicheme ( two small villages that consists of 200-300 people located north of the country of Panama) the project was to look in depths what MPSA and RePlan can do to contribute. At a stage of having both villages relocated; a new method of construction and design for new housing, school and commmunity center was introduced. Due to the fact of the villages absorbing much of the jungle due to small dwelling huts and cooking; a need for attention was advised. Prototypes, drawings and fruquent site vists were much needed along with presentation for the community. Material and architectural detail were critical because of their location; one may only arrival via helicoptor.

UI SUIS-JE ? ESEARCH

This projected started studying under a professor that encourged that a building must perform more that one task in order to survive. The project consist of having to develop a urban farmers market along side a vertical mix use building located in the heart of Austin, TX. After extensive reasearch on what sorts of products that can be grown; the building and with its parameters started to develop its form. Types of family developed the units characterists while the unit type manifested the corridors along the building which led to the skin. An on gowing processes that continues to produce not just food for the market but produces a sense of community. The project sits along a creek which allowing the skin to tailor itsself to it whenver having any addition overflow of rainfall it captures.

DIGITAL FABRIC 24 20

ESEARCH

This proposal for a 21st Century Library for the city of corpus Christ, is based on the attempts of trying to transform the landscape of the site into a moment of surreal identity.

WATER STREET

LIBRARY What lies beneath the drape.christi biblioteca para corpus Able to connect the inner edgar sanchez + bill price circulation with the public paths and the alternatives of open spaces and cavities, the form shapes its public dimension with the city through the site. It’s geometrically align along the axis of the bay of Corpus Christi.

Team: Edgar Sanchez, Bill Price “A building with a digital fabric where you don’t check out books but to check out space, a digital approach.” Location: Corpus Christi, Texas

Space Empty inside, hard and porous on the outside… being able to accommodate, in a continuous amorphous form. exchanging with the environment, lively and adapting constantly. At times it simulates the ground, creating a new landscape while at others it acquires a strong mass defining a new perspective along the site.

The public way The pedestrian path allows skateboarders and visitors to cross underneath the building in sequences with the sea. It offers a developing accommodation for those whom want to spend an afternoon within the site; spaces like a café, Skate Park, a gift store, even a place to nap. Morphology and Strategy The metaphor governing the library conceptually becomes clear within the phasing plans: an amorphous form, the growth of the library constantly changing. Naturally when the conditions of a mature balance between the environment and form share similarities..

UIODULAR SUIS-JE ?

“Casa Maru was an interesting project, it involved a client that seek a new sustainable approach withina a hill side region of Monterrey, Mexico. The site has been reclaimed wihout any loss to the existing oak mountain trees. The program is organized as a series of pavilions conncected by an internal masonry wall (spine). Within the program an open space for the living, kitchen and dining share a common ground. As well as sleeping quarters and a studio which is divided by a wall that separtes from the program giving it a semi-private space. For teh design; local building materials and passive climatic strategies wre explored, water reclamation, natural day lighting, and embracing of the sloped site and views offered from the surroundings. The home overlooks the city of Monterrey .
