DIRECTORS ALESSANDRO FARRUGIA - He was one of the very first newscasters to appear on NET Television in 1998. Besides his role as an anchorperson and journalist, he was also responsible for the executive production and presentation of current affairs programmes, both on television and radio. He was also Deput Mayor of the Pieta Local Council for six years and President of the National Youth Council. He was then employed within President Guido de Marcoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Private Secretariat, coordinating all press communications, both locally and internationally and before setting up 26th frame Limited he served as the Private Secretary to the Minister of Competitiveness and Communications. ANOUSCHKA GRECH - She is responsible for the direction of a number of leading productions, both in studios, as well as on location. She was one of Net Televisions leading editors, and included in her portfolio are programmes pertinent to current affairs, drama, magazine as well as full length documentaries and a selection of advert spots. She was awarded best editor in the 2009 Malta Television awards and her unique sense of editing and concept building has made her develop a reputation as a fast moving editor, sought after by producers. She currently handles the editing of the leading dramas aired on local TV.

Enemalta and the Water Services Corporation have recently embarked on a nationwide project aimed at replacing all electricity meters with new Smart Meters. In addition a probe will be installed on all water meters. The new Smart Metering system incorporates new features which will facilitate your relationship with both Corporations.

The installation lasts approximately thirty (30) minutes during which you will experience a short interruption to your electricity supply. The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) is seeking to contract childcare services on a self-employed basis for the ETC Child Care Centre at Óal Far. Prospective applicants should possess:  A clean police conduct  The ‘First Aid Course’  A qualification in childcare (recognised by the QRIC)  The ‘Food Handling Course’  A clean driving licence

LITERACY TRAINING IN MALTESE OR ENGLISH This course will help you master either the Maltese or the English language. This is necessary to be able to communicate properly in your everyday life in Malta. You will be requested to select a course in either language and you may also select the modules according to your needs. Modules vary from module 1 (basic) to module 6. Each module consists of 40 to 50 hours. Module 1 is €90 and modules 2 to 6 are €72 each.

The European Employment Services in Malta (EURES) assists Maltese nationals take up employment in another European country. Employment advisors specialising in EURES services offer information and advice on job mobility within the EU. EURES will be organising an information session on living and working in Belgium. The activity will include a presentation on the subject by a Belgian employment advisor, as well as a presentation on how to apply for work with an EU institution

through the European Commission Representation Office. …where quality and style meet exclusivity The Story Stefan Hylleberg, a Danish Soldier who served in Afghanistan returned from a tour of duty to his native Denmark with a handmade bracelet on his wrist. This was noticed by, his friend and Jewellery designer, Claus Sheelke. When Claus asked Stefan why he was wearing a hand made bracelet, Stefan explained that the bracelet was woven from the parachute cords of his fallen comrade, and its lock was a button from a uniform. This he wore to celebrate the life of his comrade and the sacrifice of the few for the many. Claus Scheelke was taken by the story and asked for permission to develop the idea and put the bracelet into production in collaboration with Aagaard. The Aagaard “from Soldier to Soldier” bracelet is still woven and is still made of the original parachute cords, however, it is now embellished with a silver or gold plated lock. Aagaard contributes 10% of the RRP of each bracelet sold worldwide to charities that are non-political and that help wounded Soldiers and their relatives. The world renowned artist Michelangelo Merisi popularly known as Caravaggio, the name of a small town in Lombardy was born in 1571. He spent his formative years as an apprentice in Milan and later moved to Rome. Caravaggio at first struggled to establish himself as an artist but was soon noticed by Cardinal Francesco Maria del Monte who requested Caravaggio to join his house hold as his personal painter. Whilst in Rome he was involved in a violent quarrel during which he fatally wounded his opponent, where upon he fled and headed for Naples. Whilst waiting for a pardon from the Pope he took the opportunity to come to Malta. Caravaggio travelled to Malta in July 1607 on the galleys of the Knights of the Order. Caravaggio is best known for his revolutionary use of light and shade for dramatic effect called chiaroscuro. The powerful realism with which he interpreted traditional subjects soon became hallmarks of Baroque painting. Caravaggio is known to have had a turbulent character often bursting into violence, however, he produced some on the most intensely spiritual subjects. The knights recognized the opportunity of Caravaggio’s presence and he was soon accepted into the Order. In Valletta, Caravaggio’s new patrons including the Grand Master himself, Alof de Wignacourt, for whom he painted a full-length portrait. (Louvre, Paris). Others included Fra Francesco dell’Antella and Fra Ippolito Malaspina, for whom he painted the Sleeping Cupid (Palazzo Pitti, Florence) and St Jerome. Also Fra Antonio Martelli, who is likely to be the person painted in the Portrait of a Knight. His most impressive picture is the monumental Beheading of St John the Baptist for the Oratory of the Conventual Church of St John. It is the largest and the only one which bears his signature, which he scrawled in the blood flowing from the Baptist’s throat.

After having spent a year as a novice here within the convent, he was invested into the Order in July 1608, but it was not long before he got into trouble. A few weeks later, Caravaggio was involved in a fight during which a high ranking knight was seriously wounded. Caravaggio was arrested and imprisoned at Fort St Angelo. Desperate, disgraced and unable to paint he used his inventive powers to plan his escape. Caravaggio’s incredible break out took place in October 1608. The Maltese period was a milestone in the exciting context of Caravaggio’s late years. It was a period when Caravaggio, a fugitive yearning to return to Rome, produced outstanding masterpieces. Caravaggio did not set foot in Rome again, despite the attempts at securing a Papal pardon. He died prematurely in 1610 aged 37 whilst in Porto Ercole waiting for a galley to take him to Rome.
