And by choosing the Studio Bella Senior Experience you obviously want something other than the usual in-studio photos everyone else will take. You want something different. Something fresh. Something that truly represents who you are. This guide will take you on a tour of the Studio Bella Senior Experience including what makes what I offer different from others: my natural light style, the types of locations I like to use, the different types of themed session I can do, props & accessories, my referral program, a couple of

WHY
STUDIO BELLA I started Studio Bella as an alternative to the usual in-studio photos every Senior is usually forced to take. You know the ones. They look exactly like every other Senior in your school. Sit on the stool. Look over here. Look over there. Super awkward. So I decided to offer something radically different. Studio Bella. Yes, I know what you are thinking, the name has Studio in it. Yes, but my studio is anywhere outdoors where there is great natural light. My favorite locations include a downtown area beautifully stuck in the 1950s, open fields, beaches, old houses, tree lined streets, railroad tracks. Whatever suits your personality and your fashion. I replace all those hot studio lights burning your retinas with gorgeous and amazing natural sun light. The only piece of lighting equipment I use will be a reflector to softly bounce some of that beautiful light back into your face. I like to shoot in the shade for even well lit photos, and then turn things around and shoot directly into the sun to get those amazing sun flare shots you may have seen while Googling senior photos.
I also love to use props and accessories to add some fun to your photos. Props can include balloons, glitter, bubbles, a vintage camera, a musical instrument, a Bible, anything that fits the look of your photo session and your personality. It can even be your dog! Accessories I love include hats, headbands, scarves and jewelry. That added detail can really make your images pop. Once your session is done I will use my twenty years of graphic design experience to retouch and enhance your photos, then design beautiful products you will be so proud to show off. Products from mini accordion books, canvas prints, metal prints, graduation announcements to my specialty: custom designed coffee table books. I hope you are ready for a Senior experience you will remember for a lifetime. My goal is for you to have a great time playing dress up and being a super model for a day!
I love using God’s gift of natural sun light when I photograph my senior models. This allows me to move around freely, not bogged down by a lot of lighting euqipment, cords, umbrellas, soft boxes, etc. The key is finding the right angles, the right mix of shade and light. I will also change styles by going from beautiful wrapping light in the shade for even lighting, then turning it around and shooting into the sun for amazing backlight and a little sun flare. Simply by changing angles I can change the whole feel of the image. Natural light will best capture you as you are every day... gorgeous and beautiful!
NATURAL LIGHT
1 Hats, jewelry, scarves, headbands
and other fun accessories are a great way to showcase your personal style. You can never have to many choices!
2 Bring your clothes freshly ironed
and on hangers. Attach coordinating accessories to save time.
3 Variety is key! Bring dresses, jeans,
casual, dressy, accessories, etc. Be sure to pick an outfit that will make mom happy, but also bring some that reflect who YOU are.
4 Fashion
magazines are a great source for tips and inspiration. Check my Pinterest Senior Style board for tons of great ideas!
5 Bring more outfits than you think
you need. This allows me to help you make the final decision on what would best suit the look and feel you are trying to achieve.
6 Don’t forget to layer! Layers add
texture and depth to any outfit.
7 Remember
that when you are choosing your outfits it is important that you feel comfortable in them. It will make for much more natural and relaxed portraits.
8 Avoid clothing that contains a lot of
words or logos.
9 Pick white clothing sparingly as it
reflects light strongly.
10 Ladies, please be sure to wear the
correct undergarments! Sheer dresses require nude underwear and bra straps should not be showing. A strapless bra is a must!
YOUR STYLE
You are a unique individual. You have your own style and you know how you like to express it. There will be plenty of time to change from one outfit to another, allowing you to show different sides of your personality, interests, character, etc. I will help you match your outfits to the locations we use so you will be feel confident and amazing during your Senior Experience!
Urban locations provide the perfect backdrop to photograph you in some of your most stylish outfits. From dresses to shorts to your favorite pair of jeans, heels to wedges to sandals, scarves and hats and accessories galore. These urban locales offer the opportunity to change into multiple outfits to get the most out of your Senior session.
LOCATION
URBAN One of my favorite urban areas is Downtown Orange in and around the Circle. It literally feels like you are transported to the 1950s. It was even used as the backdrop for the opening portion of the Tom Hanks movie “That Thing You Do.� I love walking around the area photographing my Senior, chaning outfits as we go. There are old homes, tree lined streets, rusty metal staircases, old doors, a fountain, church grounds and so much more. It is like one giant outdoor photo studio!
LOCATION
RURAL Rural locations offer a totally different feel to the Urban locations. These wide open spaces truly allow you to move about without any restrictions. By photographing later in the day I use soft natural light to capture amazing images. Poses range from walking amongst the tall thickets, to sitting in a flower bed, to laying down in the grass. Outfits can range from summer
dresses to jean shorts to a favorite pair of jeans. Boots to wedges to plain ol’ bare feet. Props can be really fun in these locations as well. They can include antique furniture, balloons, an old camera, glitter, an old bike, vintage luggage, etc. Whatever fits your personality.
The Southern California coastline offers some spectacular beaches and ocean views. And if the beach is your favorite spot then we can head down and get you some fantastic photos. From the rocky shore of Laguna, the sandy beaches of Newport, or under the pier at Balboa. You can easily get a wide variety of photos by bringing several outfits for different looks. Are you a surfer? Then bring your board. Volleyball player? Then bring
a volleyball. Glam it up by bringing a fancy dress and your favorite heels. Or play it casual with jean shorts, loose top and a beanie hat. Whatever shows off your personality the best. If you are really adventurous then we can end the shoot with a Trash the Dress session. These are SO much fun! Lay on the beach and let the water surround you, stand under the pier as a wave crashes behind you and envelops you. All with a beautiful sunset behind you!
LOCATION
BEACH
I love doing themed photo sessions! They allow for a lot of creativity as well as a chance to play dress up! One of these themes is a vintage session. Be it vintage 1930s, fun 1950s, hip 1960s, or fun loving 1970s. The first step is for you to pick an era and start shopping for some outfits. And then accessorize as much as possible. Accessories such as hats, gloves, parasols, necklaces, bracelets, shoes, boots and more can really make the look come alive. It’s all in the details! On the day of the session the look is completed with hair styling and make-up application.
THEME
VINTAGE After your session I will use my design skills to enhance your photos to give it that vintage look. A little soft focus. A little vignette around the edges. Convert the color to sepia. And voila! Gorgeous, beautiful vintage photos. By combining your look with a complimentary location, some fun and creative poses, and creative post processing we’ll get some amazing vintage photos you’ll be proud to show off!
THEME
PROM DRESS What Senior girl wouldn’t want a fashion forever. For added fun you can bring along photo shoot in her beautiful Prom Dress? friends who can have the same session That’s the focus of this session. You at a discounted rate. I will take individual have no doubt gone through magazines, photos of each Senior as well as some scoured websites, went to store after fun group shots. This makes for a very store to find that perfect dress, shoes, fun session and some great memories! and jewelry. By combining this with a great location I can capture some fun and creative photos that you will cherish
PROPS & ACCESSORIES Props can add a lot of fun and whimsy to photos. They can include an antique chair, balloons, glitter, vintage camera, vintage luggage, an old bike, a chalkboard, etc. I am always on the lookout for new and interesting items to incorporate into my Senior sessions. The props can also be personal items such as a Bible, musical instrument, even your dog! Anything that has meaning to you and want to include in your session. I also love accessories. Especially hats, headbands, scarves, bracelets, etc. These attentions to detail can add so much to photos. On my Pinterest page I have a Senior Style board that has tons of ideas for outfits and matching accessories. These can give you tons of ideas.
To reward Seniors and their parents for referring other Seniors to me, I offer a reward program. The rewards range from $25 - $50 depending on which package the Senior books with me. The reward can either be given in cold hard cash or used as credit towards products or another photo session. Referrals are the greatest form of compliment I can receive and the rewards program is my way of thanking you for showing others my work and recommending my services.
REFERRAL PROGRAM I am also always on the lookout for outgoing, enthusiastic and assertive Seniors for my Senior Rep program. Senior Reps are those who go out and actively show others my work in hopes of getting me referrals. In return the Senior Reps get free photo shoots and products. I am not asking my Senior Reps to do cold calls or any hardcore selling. I just ask them to rave about and share photos on Facebook, show my print products to other Seniors that might be interested in photos, and sharing the photos and products to parents of Seniors as well. If a referred Senior contacts me and books me, then a reward is earned.
