Client wanted to build 2 three-story houses on his property. One house would be for himself and the other would be rented out. The design concept was based on the principle of yin and yang: which we interpreted as push and pull, light and dark.

These graphics were made for various publications meant to educate the public about the importance of public spaces and design. For example Alleyways of Nashville looks at alleys across the US and uses them as inspiration to reimagine alleys in Nashville.

STRATEGIES These are some of the strategies that many alley programs have implemented in their work. Some have environmental benifits such as replacing asphalt with a more pervious material to collect water; while others have benifits for improving people's safety and perception of alleys such as providing lighting and visibility. Adopting even a few of these strategies could help transform an alley which then becomes more active and prosperous. For the most part most of these stategies require low maintance, but it is important to program acitivities to activate alleways. This way people are able to take advantage of this public space. 1. PLANT AND ADD GREENERY 4. REPLACE ASPHALT WITH PERVIOUS SURFACE 2. ENSURE ADEQUATE LIGHTING AND VISIBILITY 3. PROVIDE OUTDOOR FURNITURE 5. INSTALL ARTWORK 6. ACTIVATE WITH PROGRAMS
