O
ver a year ago, I made a very tough decision to start working for myself. To be honest, it was largely due in part to what I considered my first Houston family - a group of creative, passionate, fun ladies who (without knowing it) ignited a fire in me. For most of my life I’ve been driven towards and have worked in Corporate America, so when I experienced the creativity present in life, I was addicted. I realized that this was something I wanted to pursue - I wanted to feel passionate about every project I embarked on. So when the opportunity came around (or when I felt I was really ready), I made the leap and Studio Brand Collective was born.

oday, I work with an amazingly, talented group of ladies who inspire me just as much as our clients do. We work with businesses across multiple industries and we really have fun while doing it. We are in a great place and to celebrate our 1 year anniversary, we’ve decided to roll out a few upgrades to our brand. So, welcome to the our new magazine, filled with information about everything that inspires us and keeps us creative. We’ve also updated our website (www.studiobrandcollective.com) with more information about who we have become, what we do and our clients. And, to top it off, we are in full swing with our recently launched community service initiative Studio Brand Cares! Wow! I’m nostalgic and appreciative to all our wonderful clients, our friends, and everyone who has supported us. We promise that there’s more to come! Until next time, Cheers!!
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

A PEEK BEHIND THE BRAND....
get to know studio brand’s chief creative officer....... What do you like best about marketing? I absolutely enjoy working with different clients across various industries. And while no industry is ever the same, it's the small nuances or guidelines that keeps us creative. It's knowing that we can never be stuck in any one systematic way of handling a client. I love that my job is never the same - it's never dull and it's always fascinating. I also enjoy the teaching aspect. We try to cultivate lasting relationships with our clients; relationships that are nurturing in nature because I always love sharing knowledge. What’s your philosophy on business? It’s simple really. Work hard and get things done. Nothing replaces hard work, period. What do you do for fun? I think my team will absolutely laugh at this question - fun? Well, who has time for fun? I love traveling, great food, experiencing and learning new cultures. I truly believe learning is fun, believe it or not. I've always been a seeker of knowledge and it fuels me; quite frankly, it's exciting. My dogs are also the best pups ever and they keep me active. How has marketing and advertising changed over the years? We are so digital now, it's scary. I guess one of the biggest changes I've witnessed is the digital revoultion, both professional and personal. Glass half empty or half full? Ha! Now that's a trick question. I think as a business owner and someone who works with multiple clients, it's imperative to remain enthusiastic and positive. Clients depend on us to get it right and to get it done regardless of the obstacles - so, definitely glass half full.

Herman Park Hermann Park, presented to the City of Houston by George Hermann in 1914, is Houston’s most historically significant public green space. The park rests on 401 acres in the heart of the Museum District. Things to see within the park include the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theater, Houston Garden Center, Japanese Garden, a public golf course, the equestrian statue of General Sam Houston and the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors’ Plaza.

Buffalo Bayou The 52-mile slow-moving waterway that was the site of Houston’s founding in 1836, has become a destination for outdoor recreation near downtown Houston. It is one of the few bayous left in central Houston which was not reconstructed with concrete in the 1960s and 1970s. It contains an incredibly diverse urban ecosystem supporting dozens of native species of flora and fauna.
77. Studio Brand Collective
An innovative lighting program, designed for the entire Buffalo Bayou greenway, was unveiled with the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade in June 2006. Diverse lighting treatments identify Buffalo Bayou as the spine of the city and a major destination for nighttime activity. The lights, designed by artist Stephen Korns and international lighting firm L’Observatoire, brighten the bridges, trails, and water of the park with a blue-to-white color scheme changing in tandem with the phases of the moon.
Canoe and Kayak Trails: See downtown from a new perspective. Buffalo Bayou is perfect for canoeing and kayaking. Whether your destination is Sesquicentennial Park or Allen’s Landing, the bayou wharfs make take out very easy. Click here for a map of canoe and kayak launches along Buffalo Bayou.
Hike and Bike Trails: From Sabine to Bagby Street, 2 miles of trails now connect the Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive trails to Sesquicentennial Park and the Theater District in downtown. Click here for a map of hike and bike trails along Buffalo Bayou.

Dana Caldera a local houstonian inspired by landscape, nature and beauty. Dana graduated from Stratford High School with advanced placement credit in the visual arts. She was greatly influenced by her high school art teacher. It was in the high school art program that Dana formed a deep, lasting connection to the arts.
In 2009 Dana graduated from Rice University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Unable to resist the studio, she also left the institution with a number of credit hours in studio art.
Since graduating, Dana has worked full time as an engineer in Houston. After a year she she founded her studio blog, Art & Soul, to reconnect with painting and rejuvenate her studio practice.
Dana is currently keeping a careful balance of her left and right brain by spending her nights and weekends painting in the studio.

“I’m a planner. I’m a leftbrain dominated, organized, structured...artist.”
Studio Brand Collective. 84
When did you realize painting was your true passion? I had been working full time for a year when I realized that something was missing. After spending my young life immersed in the arts I was suddenly without. I desperately missed creating. Since then I’ve made it a priority to reconnect with art and launch my painting career.
What are you inspired by? My work can mainly be described as observational painting. I am inspired by beauty in the world around me in everyday views and objects.
Are you influenced by anything? My work is influenced by the impressionist and post impressionist masters. I am drawn to work in color and am currently exploring the texture I can manipulate with paint and solvents.
You enjoy traveling, how does that affect your artwork? When I travel I am taken with new cultures and experiences and often seek to capture those feelings in my paintings. I try to focus on contrast using lights and darks to maintain a sense of life and movement in my paintings.

Loren Blake Discovering her talent at the age of six, Houston native Loren Melton has always been a vocalist participating in school choirs and acapella and all girls’ choruses throughout her middle school and high school years. While in college, she focused on her studies but reignited her vocal interest at the beginning of her junior year when an opportunity to join an all-girls group, Her Heart, with members Alexis Tyler, Camille Clay, Jenee Ligon, and Angelica Brown emerged. Enthusiastically, she joined the group and continued to perfect her craft performing and learning to write music. When Her Heart
performed as the opening act for
Clay Curtis in Lockhart, TX, it was then that she realized her joy for performing on stage with an audience and became more determined than ever to pursue her dream.
