ITO’S GOAL WAS TO DESIGN A BUILDING THAT WOULD BE AS FREE OF CONSTRAINTS AND AS TRANSPARENT AS PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE. HE AIMED TO INTERGRATE OUR “PRIMITIVE” SELVES WHO ARE LINKED WITH NATURE AND OUR “ELECETRONIC SELVES” WHO ARE LINKED WITH TECHNOLOGY. HIS APPROACH WAS TO SIMPLIFY THE BUILDING INTO THREE MAIN ELEMENTS: PLATE, TUBE AND SKIN.
