Aberdeen Snowsports Club Clothing Sports Council Family Fun Day
Aberdeen Snowsports Club branded clothing is available for all members to buy from the reception at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre. Great looking 'Team Aberdeen' black hoodies and long sleeved T's can be bought for £20 and £12. The hard wearing clothing is ideal for the slope, on the hills or just relaxing. All profits from the clothing go directly to Aberdeen Snowsports Club funds and re-invested in projects for the benefits of the members for example our club hut at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre. Next time you’re at the Centre treat yourself to one!
Large Crowds turned up at the Duthie Park and enjoyed the Grand Family Fun Day, organised by Aberdeen Sports Council, Scotland’s only Voluntary Sports Council. Member Clubs showcased their activities and some took part in the It’s A Knockout Competition! Snow Regrets were the team from ASC who managed a respectable 2nd place on the day & at the AGM we were presented with a shield by Katie Barnett for the Club that raised the most funds for the Sports Council. We are aiming bigger next year in the team events so watch this space.

Schools Races – Aberdeen Qualifiers
The Primary Schools event has been running for a number of years now hosted by Aberdeen Snowsports Club but 2013 was the second year this event and the new for 2012 secondary schools event formed part of the Scottish series with the top teams going through to a national final. Teams were allowed to enter in one of two categories depending upon the experience of the racers in the team. On the 14th a combination team from Westhill, Oyne, and Durris primary schools took the cup as the winning team in the Red "Experienced" category whilst a team from Fetterangus and Longside primary schools took 1st place in the Blue "Novice" category. On Saturday the 21st during the Secondary schools races Robert Gordon's College "Blue Saltires" team won the Blue category.
Saturday 14th and Saturday 21st September saw the Scottish Schools Autumn Dual Slalom Series Qualifiers run at Aberdeen Snowsports Centre.
The Secondary's Red category was fiercely contested with some of the best alpine skiing we've seen at the centre recently. Both Banchory Academy and Robert Gordon's College "Red Devils" took a joint first place as even after several ski offs they still had equal points. All 5 of these teams will now go on to compete against schools across Scotland at the series final in Braehead on October 31st. Both events were great fun with some really impressive ski racing; this was not only down to the racers themselves but the great efforts from all the volunteers who helped out. Well they’ve done it! 15 ASC Junior Members have, over the past 7 months, been working hard to raise money to help fund their season passes for the coming winter to enable them to train and compete in the hills. They have now reached, and exceeded, their target with all surplus funds going to general Club funds. A BIG thank you to all of you, who have bought coffees and fine pieces, sponsored them on

Race Group Summer Sliding There was an early start during the summer holidays for some to take a trip down to Snow Factor at Braehead. Along with the race coaches Carrie and Gilbert and some of the race trainees we had to have the usual stop at the Horn for a bacon roll! The group had some freeski training, practicing on body position

They have made some changes to the layout of the building extending and renaming the bar area upstairs, altering the layout of the stairs and hire area down stairs and the inclusion of a nice climbing wall. The slope was generally at full width with a couple of small jumps letting the group practice on their take offs and landing techniques making use of the rails. As usual the transition from plastic to snow meant a couple of frosty the snowman crashes as the ski edges a bit harder than expected.
