The opportunity to fully strip down this century old structure allowed for a play between the historic envelope and a new configuration of floor plates and layout. The original layout (vertical & horizontal) reflected to a large extent the way society was organized and how domestic hierarchy served as a guideline. Our intent was similar: express by means of layout, furniture, connections a contemporary paradigm.
