Our route took us from Antigua to Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barths, and finally St. Maarten. We left Antigua in choppy seas and brisk winds but the newly installed zero-speed stabilizers made the passage enjoyable. Captain Eddie’s boat-handling and the crew’s attentive service was exceptional.

The fresh scent of the sea and blooming flora is a true sensory delight. Although it is possible to climb Nevis Peak with a guide, certain parts are challenging. Our group elected to use a local land guide and explore the island’s interior. Nevis is known for her restored sugar plantations and exotic flora and fauna. There are five restored plantations that are now elegant inns. Each has a unique style and amenities fitting a relaxing stay in peaceful surroundings. The history of these inns is fascinating and a visit to each is worthwhile to admire the landscape or enjoy a scrumptious lunch or dinner. Our guide took us to Montpelier Plantation Inn, a 300 year-old sugar plantation that now embraces effortless luxury with stunning sea views. Lord Horatio Nelson wed the Nevisian widow Frances Nisbet in 1787 here under the branches of a silk cotton tree. Next we visited the Golden Rock Plantation Inn with impeccably maintained grounds and one of the most amazing displays of flowering trees and plants found anywhere in the Caribbean. A stroll on the nature trails featuring lush gardens and the fresh smells of sea and blooming flora is a sensory delight. The restored Inn is gorgeous with 5-star service and common areas all artistically decorated and beautifully maintained.
The best Nevis guide CHRISTIAN—THE RAINBOW MAN IN COLORFUL CLOTHES WITH A MULTI-HUED OPEN SAFARI BUS— WILL MAKE YOUR TOUR OF NEVIS UNFORGETTABLE.
In Nevis the locals are so friendly that they like to say: “You’re only a stranger here once.” After Nevis, we were on to St. Kitts, a intoxicating island with sandy beaches and unparalleled natural beauty. St. Kitts also features restored plantations and beautiful resorts. One of the most luxurious is Christophe Harbour encompassing 2,300 acres on the SE peninsula, where we enjoyed an incredible lunch and afternoon swimming in the warm azure seas and the inn’s infinity pool. Christophe Harbour is still under development, but will include a superyacht marina and village, a golf course, restaurants, and high-end luxury residential ownership opportunities when complete. There will be no luxury resort like it anywhere in the Caribbean. A day here is “a must”, an hour passes like a minute in these beautiful tropical surroundings. The French island of St. Barths offers opportunities for people-watching, chic shops and fabulous restaurants in the town of Gustavia, along with glorious white sand beaches on the opposite side. There are 14 beaches in all. Gouverneur, Flamands, Saline, St. Jean and Toiny are well known. Few are crowded, even in peak season, and all are free and open to the public. After a stroll around Gustavia we enjoyed swimming and snorkeling off the yacht anchored in the beautiful Colombier Bay.
The Capricorn crew pampers every guest and ensures a fabulous luxury charter experience. Our drop off destination was St. Maarten, on the Dutch side. This island is bustling with casinos, great duty free shopping, and Princess Juliana International Airport where flights arrive and depart daily from all major countries. St. Maarten is only a few hours from the best Caribbean islands, and a convenient place to begin or end your charter. Take a taxi into Philipsburg’s Front Street for duty-free jewelry, electronics, watches and more, and visit the French side for a quaint dinner and quiet evening. We chose the restaurant Le Calmos CafÊ, a delightful secluded spot directly on the beach in Grand Case, where we enjoyed a simply delicious meal sitting at picnic tables in the sand, waited on by the very attentive staff who served us fabulous fresh fish and local delicacies. There are many more to choose from in the main town of Marigot. It was most saddening to witness the arrival of the taxi for our trip to the airport. The crew on Capricorn made us feel part of the family, all the while pampering us with incredible attentiveness, fun and gastronomic indulgence. We highly recommend the experience of a luxury yacht charter in the Caribbean to anyone seeking the best life has to offer!
