- FOREWORD -
Along with this year’s fresh energy, we created a new line of products under the name of Atelier Toit: a collection of unique handmade wooden decorative pieces originating from Studio ROOF designs that have been given an unexpected conceptual twist.
Ilya, the crafty natureman needs the woods.
Being a literal translation of the studio’s name in French, Atelier Toit reflects the need of sometimes having to step back and deconstruct explored concepts to re-discover and rebuild. The inspiration for this line stems from our shared love for the woods, for a simple life surrounded by nature, in harmony with the simple yet beautiful human-made environments and objects which we love to create. The concept originated from the time we spent in our little stone hut in the chestnut forest in the south of France, observing nature.
The idea was given new impetus with the arrival of Monika Nowak last year. Monika just graduated from art academy and began experimenting in inspired ways with leftovers and cut-outs she found at the studio. We also invited Jantien Baas, who had worked with us on our flower collection, to join the team as a creative consultant. Our creative visions clicked, and together, the team members, old and new, initiated the start of this new made-inAmsterdam forest collection. The collection is designed, cut, hand-assembled and painted in our studio in Amsterdam.
As a small family business with a great team, we remain committed to always bring more colour and beauty to the world! We hope you enjoy our new designs as much as we loved creating them! and the team Romy & Ilya
