The minimum insert order is 5,000. One complete copy of the insert must be submitted to the Sales Manager for review prior to acceptance. All inserts must be shipped to arrive at our printing plant no later than five days prior to insertion. Rates shown are per thousand inserts.
Classified line ads are word-only ads that appear under appropriate headings. Line ads can not contain borders, photos or fonts other than the standard font used. The first three words (maximum one line) will be in bold type in all-caps. Rates shown are per-word, per-day.

Mechanical Measurements Ads will be sized using the column specifications shown below. To calculate the size of an ad in "column inches," multiply the width of the ad (in columns) by the height of the ad (in inches). Example: an ad 4 columns wide by 8" tall would total 32 column inches. Multiplying the number of column inches by the ad rate gives you the cost of your ad.

Mechanical Specif ications • Student Life is a broadsheet publication produced using offset printing. • Our page size is 11.625" wide x 21" deep. Ads over 17" in length will be billed at the full column depth of 21". • Minimum ad size is 4 column inches. • All ads smaller than a full page must be bordered. Ads submitted without a border will have a 1-point rule added during final page production. • Digital artwork should be supplied at an 85 or 100 line screen.

Terms & Conditions 1. Payment Terms: Payment is due prior to the first ad insertion unless an approved credit application is on file. To apply for credit, please fill out a credit application (available from your marketing consultant). Allow 4-6 weeks for processing. All new accounts must prepay for six months. Accounts more than thirty days overdue are considered delinquent and may be canceled at the discretion of the advertising manager. A service charge of 1.5% per month (18% per annum) will be assessed on past due accounts. 2. Edit or Reject Copy: Student Life reserves the right to edit or reject any advertisement for any reason at any time prior to publication. Only printing of an ad signifies acceptance. Student Life also reserves the right to print "Paid Advertisement" on any ad which closely resembles editorial material. 3. Billing Adjustments: Student Life assumes no financial responsibility for errors in advertisements beyond the cost of space actually occupied by the advertisement in which the error is made. Lack of, or a subjective view of creativity will not be a factor in awarding advertisers credits or make goods. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to request a proof of an ad prior to publication. 4. Defend and Indemnify: The advertiser and advertising agency (if any) agree to defend and indemnify Student Life against any liability arising from claims of libel, unfair competition, patents, violation of rights of privacy and infringement of copyrights and proprietary rights resulting from publication of an advertisement. 5. Rates: Student Life reserves the right to change its advertising rates and policies set forth on this rate card at any time with 30 days notice to advertisers. In this event, an advertiser may amend or cancel his/her contract or space reservation order on the date the rate change or policy change takes effect. 6. Cancellations: All cancellations must be received in writing prior to the regular advertising insertion deadlines. Ads canceled after deadline will be billed at full value. 7. Proof of Publication: Advertisers who would like to receive proof of publication should request tearsheets at the time they place their advertising order. Tearsheets are mailed together with monthly statements to the billing address on file
Advertising Policies 1. Student Life reserves the right to reject or edit any advertisement for any reason, at any time prior to publication. Only printing of an advertisement signifies acceptance. We also reserve the right to print "Paid Advertisement" on any ad which closely resembles editorial material. 2. No page position can be guaranteed or sold, but requests for position will be honored whenever possible. 3. Marketing consultants are not authorized to quote any rates, policies or discounts which deviate from those published in the current rate card. 4. In the event an advertisement runs containing an error that is clearly the fault of the newspaper and detracts from the intended message, it is the advertiser's responsibility to notify the sales manager within two days of the publication date in which the error occurred. After this period, Student Life is exempt from any liability for the error. 5. In the event an ad containing an error which detracts from the intended message of the advertisement runs in more than one issue, a billing adjustment will only be made for the first insertion. 6. Student Life will be under no liability for late delivery due to any natural occurrence or printer error. 7. It is the policy of Student Life to protect the creative ideas, design and artwork of an advertiser from being duplicated by another advertiser. 8. Student Life will not knowingly accept any advertisement that violates any federal, state or local laws or encourages discrimination against any individual group on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, color, creed, religion, national origin or disability. 9. If collection services are warranted due to non-payment, a recovery fee of $295 will be added to the advertiser's final bill. Overdue accounts will be referred to our agent, National Credit Systems. Expenses incurred by Student Life during the collections process are the responsibility of the debtor. 10. A $25 service charge will be assessed on all returned checks.
