SERVICES OR PRODUCTS YOU OFFER:
Blind Spot has been servicing the Sacramento area for over 20 years. Hunter Douglas window fashions are the only service we provide. Full design installation and service without any subcontractors. We have become the largest Hunter Douglas Gallery in Northern California and Nevada. It’s amazing to be a part of the community and support families. We thank our clients for that!
WHAT YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR
PROFESSION: Changing how people feel about living in their home. FUN FACT ABOUT YOUR COMPANY: I go on ’blind dates’ all day long. FIRST JOB: I painted glass figurines for a glass blower when I was 10 years old. FAVORITE FOOD: Sushi! I love Mikuni’s Carmichael Roll and seared tuna appetizer. I even took a class from Mikuni years ago, and now I can make my own rolls with fish we get delivered from Honolulu Fish Company once a month. FAVORITE LOCAL NONPROFIT: Our baseball team did holiday boxes with Placer Food Bank and we have always donated to Habitat for Humanity. But really our big passion is the little league teams— we have multiple fields named after us and have stayed very active for the past 12 years with Woodcreek baseball. LAST BIG PURCHASE: Trucks for the business.
WHEN NOT WORKING, YOU CAN BE FOUND:
With my family on the baseball field, fishing, or skiing.
YOU LOVE LIVING
HERE, BECAUSE: I love everything Northern California offers.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS.
I started Barker’s Pet Care after working for several years as operations manager at a dog resort in Folsom. Our mission and goal has always stayed the same: take care of our customers’ pets like they’re our own. We routinely walk, play and care for our clients’ animals to make sure that they’re not just getting love, but also some well-deserved exercise. We offer compassionate and loving care to senior pets that may not be welcome at boarding kennels, instead caring for them, in the comfort and safety of their own home.
WHY IS YOUR STAFF THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS?
I work with a knowledgeable and compassionate high-energy team who I trust to project the highest level of confidence and efficiency that my customers deserve. Two of our team members are vet techs, which is an added bonus for our customers.
WHAT LIFE ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE
YOU MOST PROUD OF? I have been married for almost 37 years to a wonderful husband—to whom I proposed and married after
Kathy Barker with fur client Keoni
10 days of first meeting him. Working together, our entrepreneurial spirit has provided us with numerous successes in the past, and fueled our passion for our pet care business.
WHERE DO YOU GO WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH?
I spend time with my dogs, of course! Upsi, a 19-year-old wirehaired dachshund; Petite, a two-pound chihuahua; and Tuppence, a threeyear-old rescue.
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST JOB PERK?
Without a doubt, being able to spend the majority of my days and nights with all types of lovely animals. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL EVENT? Bark ’n’ Splash Bash in Folsom!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BUSINESS OTHER
THAN YOUR OWN? The Salvage Shed in Folsom. The owner is very nice and I’ve always enjoy wandering around and seeing all of her treasures and maybe (always) finding a treasure for myself! AND FINALLY, CUSTOMER SERVICE IS…? Easy if you are authentic.
