for the arctic To live at best in a holiday in regions that are completely embedded into snow, you cannot miss the correct way of dressing.
Per vivere al meglio una vacanza in regioni totalmente avvolte dalla neve non bisogna sbagliare il modo in cui vestirsi.
You should think to be like an onion and put on more layers to stand the switch between the outside cold and the warm temperatures of interiors of relax zones and saunas (here you’ll need flip flops!)
Dovete pensare di essere una cipolla e indossare più strati per affrontare il freddo esterno e il caldo interno delle strutture nelle zone relax o nelle saune (qui servono le infradito!)
Here are our suggestions: wear thermic underwear + pile or wool clothes + weather resistent garments when you get out. Cap and gloves. The cotton is banned cause if you sweat it gets wet and then will freeze.
Ecco i nostri suggerimenti: indossare indumenti intimi termici + vestiti di pile o lana + indumenti resistente agli agenti atmosferici per quando si esce. Cappello e guanti. Il cotone è bandito perché se si suda si bagna e ghiaccia.

From October to December there will be a gathering of engeneers, technics and artists that have in common the passion for ice. With new projects every year and chainsaws at hand they begin, in several places in the world, the temporary construction of ice Hotels. Absolutely unbelievable structures uniting the fascination of places embedded in total silence of the snow and complex icy scenes.
Da ottobre a dicembre si radunano ingegneri, tecnici e artisti che hanno in comune la passione per il ghiaccio, con progetti ogni anno nuovi e motoseghe alla mano iniziano, in diverse parti del modo, le costruzioni temporanee degli Hotel di ghiaccio. Sono strutture assolutamente inimmaginabili perchĂŠ uniscono il fascino di luoghi avvolti nel totale silenzio della neve ad elaborate scenografie ghiacciate.
A fiabesque atmosphere given by the icy temperatures, the plays of transparencies, the hot saunas, tubs below the starred skies, wonderful recipes and the beds covered with fur coats. In this hotels everything has been conceived to create an unforgettable experience.
Il freddo, il giochi delle trasparenze, le saune bollenti, idromassaggi sotto i cieli stellati, la buona cucina e i letti rivestiti di pelli rendono l’atmosfera fiabesca, in questi hotel è stato studiato tutto per rendere veramente indimenticabile questa esperienza.

Your room will be maintained at -5° C, and even if your lit is carved into ice, some furs, or a wooden plank will protect you from the cold. In some hotel you will have even a mattress or in any case you will be given a sleeping bag, single or double, conceived to avoid you to freeze.

Prima di andare a dormire bisogna lasciare tutti gli oggetti che non sono utili per dormire allo staff o dentro appositi armadietti per evitarne il congelamento, in camera bisogna ricordarsi di non appoggiare oggetti metallici, come le monete, sugli arredi di ghiaccio se non si vuole l’indomani usare martello e scalpello per staccarli, bisogna asciugarsi perfettamente e non usare prodotti cosmetici che contengano acqua per impedire che si formi brina sulla pelle.
The garments used during the day will hold the humidity of your body and they must be substituted with new thermic or wool garments that will maintain the warm and transpiration during the night.
I vestiti usati durante il giorno contenendo l’umidità del vostro corpo e vanno sostituiti con un abbigliamento nuovo, termico o di lana, che assicura il mantenimento del calore e la traspirazione durante la notte.
Once you will be in your sleeping bag a few minutes will be needed to get to the right temperature, the head must stay out so that your breath will not create humidity inside. A cap may be very useful.
Una volta entrati nel vostro sacco a pelo ci vogliono pochi istanti per acclimatarsi, la testa deve rimanere fuori per impedire che il respiro possa creare umidità interna, un berretto potrebbe risultare molto utile.
Not every room will come with bathroom so its suggested not to drink too much before bedtime, so to avoid the necessary trip and unvesting/vesting again.
Non tutte le camere sono dotate di bagno quindi si consiglia di non bere troppo, al fine di evitare tragitti in corridoi non riscaldati in cui bisogna nuovamente rivestirsi.
At morning you will be awaken by the waiters and after a tasty breakfast you could go for several adventures and activities in the snow.
Alla mattina si viene svegliati dal personale e dopo una gustosa colazione si può partire per tante avventure e attività sulla neve.
These hotels can be used also as location for special company events and private parties like weddings. In most of the structures there will be a church carved into ice. These places, beside the dream that we will live in, they will bring us closer to nature and to the total respect for it.
Questi alberghi si prestano anche come location d’eccellenza per eventi aziendali e feste private come matrimoni perché, in quasi tutte le strutture, è presente una chiesa scolpita nel ghiaccio. Tutte queste strutture oltre a farci vivere un sogno vogliono anche avvicinarci alla natura e al suo totale rispetto.

Iglu -Dorf villages The iglu villages celebrated this year their 20th anniversary. The project begun from the desire of the founder Adrian Gunter to be in contact with the mountain in absolute silence, being the first to wake up on the snow would allow him to enjoy an uncontaminated panorama.

Now, every winter, new villages take birth into unchanted mountain sceneries: seven magnificent palaces, made at Davos – Klosters, Gstaad, Engelberg, Stochorn and Zermatt in Switzerland and on the Zugspitze in Austria, and at Andorra in the Pyrenees.
Adesso, ogni inverno, se ne costruiscono di nuovi in mezzo a incantevoli paesaggi montani: sette stupefacenti palazzi, realizzati a Davos - Klosters, Gstaad, Engelberg, Stockhorn e Zermatt in Svizzera, sullo Zugspitze in Germania e in Andorra nei Pirenei.
The hotels requires around 3.000 working hours, they are realized with 2.000 tons of snow and decorated with different themes and fabulous ice sculptures. Its possible to book in groups and stay in the room for 6 people, or book a Romantic Suite Igloo, absolute luxury with private jacuzzi, music and wc.
Gli hotel richiedono circa 3.000 ore di lavoro, vengono realizzati con 2.000 tonnellate di neve e decorati con temi diversi con meravigliose sculture di ghiaccio. An average of 15 people for 11 days will be taken by the construction and there will be used around 1400 snow bricks with 40x60x20 cm (HxLxP) dimensions.
Una media di 15 persone per 11 giorni saranno impegnate nella costruzione e verranno posati 1400 pezzi circa di mattoni di neve con dimensioni 40 x 60 x 20 cm (H x L x P).
Once ended the construction, the artists will decorate the inside of the igloos by transforming them into a fabulous ice lounge, where you could admire the artist craftmaking on the ice walls.
Una volta ultimata la costruzione artisti decoreranno gli interni dell’iglù trasformandolo in una meravigliosa lounge di ghiaccio, nella quale si potrà ammirare l’opera artistica sulle pareti di neve.
The igloos will last the entire winter season, they will be accessible by public and will be bookable as event locations.
L’iglu durerà l’intera stagione invernale, sarà pubblicamente accessibile e potrà essere prenotato come location per eventi.

Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel The Igloos hotel can be found at Sorrisniva, the world’s northernmost ice hotel at approx. 30 km from Alta in an idyllic ambient on the shores of the Alta river. Born from an idea of the Wisloff brothers in 2000, with the help of a very well matched squad, a big family.
L’Hotel Igloo si trova a Sorrisniva ed è il più settentrionale albergo di ghiaccio nel mondo, a circa 20 km da Alta in un ambiente idilliaco sulle rive del fiume Alta. Nato dall’idea dei fratelli Wisloff nel 2000 con l’aiuto di una squadra molto affiatata, come una grande famiglia.
The artists are born in Alta and they live here cause the founders want to give value to the local culture. The artists are: Maya Christine Opgård, Sonja Saxe Kjeldsberg, Knut Kjeldsberg, Roar Kjeldsberg and Johnny Trasti. They are all exceptional in they ability to create art with snow and ice.

They are baked up by the Alta workers, which work every day for 5 weeks to create this temporary hotel.

Several floors, stairs, slides for child and adults, thrones, galleries of ice art for external visitors, and also terraces where you can enjoy the panorama.
Ha più piani, scaloni, scivoli per grandi e piccini, troni, gallerie delle opere di ghiaccio per i visitatori esterni e anche terrazze dove poter godere del panorama.
Every portion of the castle is illuminated with colorful lights creating special effects that add a mystic experience to the natural and ethereal ice walls.
Ogni porzione del castello è illuminato con luci colorate che creano giochi particolari e aggiungono splendore alle pareti di ghiaccio naturali ed eteree.
Every year they create 20 rooms for a total of 48 places, evidently every room is totally unique.

Beside to the typical activities on the snow, at Kemi is possible to practice ice fishing, curling and snow golf.
Oltre alle tipiche attività sulla neve, a Kemi, è possibile praticare la pesca nel ghiaccio, curling e golf in mezzo alla neve.
For the kids is surely to be visited the official port of Santa Klaus, even port and home for the powerful icebreaker Sampo.
Per i più piccini sicuramente è da visitare il porto ufficiale di Babbo Natale, anche porto e casa per il potente rompighiaccio Sampo.

Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort The village of Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort was born thanks to an apparent misadventure of his founder, Mr. Jussi, in an evening of 1973 was travelling on the lonely roads of a fisherman’s village in the north of Finland. Suddenly his car was out of gas and stopped. The only possible solution was to camp in the nearby trees. That night made him fall in love with that place so that he decided to construct a place to host people.
Il villaggio Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort è nato grazie ad una apparente disavventura del suo fondatore, Jussi nel 1973 stava viaggiando di sera lungo le strade solitarie a sud del villaggio di pescatori a nord della Finlandia, quando la sua auto è rimasta senza benzina. L’unica soluzione possibile era stata quella di accamparsi nel vicino bosco, la notte gli ha permesso di innamorarsi di quel luogo al punto di volerci costruire una struttura d’accoglienza.
The resort is situated very near to the National Park of Urho Kekkonen, the biggest of Finland national parks. The Sami population lived in this region since more than a century preserving the environment that still today is one of the most clean areas of the world.

Then at Kakslauttanen was realized the biggest Smoke Sauna of the world on the shore of the small lake in the park. A place where to sit, relax and stay warm. It can host 100 people in three different saunas.

In the area of Santa Resort Kakslauttanen there is a real house of Santa Klaus, where Santa lives with his wife and receives visitors. The elves serve hot beverages with gingerbread.

Santa Klaus also made Santa’s Celebration House, a space that can host more than 200 people for eating, concerts and events.

Ice Hotel Jukkasjärvi This is the world’s first ICEHOTEL, situated in Sweden, around 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, in a place called Jukkasjärvi, a Sámi word that approximately means “meeting place by the water”.

The complex is built nearby the Torne river, that every year supplies more than 2500 blocks of ice of two tons each, that are taken during spring and then conserved for the construction, an equivalent of 700 millions of snowballs!

At that point a group of visitors asked to sleep there, they were provided with reindeer furs and artic sleeping bags. They woke up enthralled by the experience and so the first Ice Hotel was born. Now ICEHOTEL it’s both an art exhibition and hotel. The artists and artwork vary from year to year, each rendition of the hotel presenting an ephemeral collection.
Veniva utilizzato anche come chiesa e set per film, col tempo crebbe fino a misurare 250 m²; la tecnica costruttiva venne raffinata e brevettata in Svezia e Norvegia. This is how an artist describes the process: ”To create a suite at ICEHOTEL is genuine, excruciantly tough, magic and absolutely lovely all at the same time. The art is preserved in the walls for a few months, a human imprint that slowly melts away. It’s fascinating to see everyone gathering here during the building period, and the people who return time and time again to create another ICEHOTEL, year after year.” Annasofia Mååg.

By retracing a bit of the Boho Chic style, the newlyweds celebrated their union with family and friends at Crotto Rosa, a fabulous location on the city of Erba (Co) Italy.
Ricalcando un po’ lo stile Boho Chic, gli sposi hanno festeggiato la loro unione con amici e parenti al Crotto Rosa, location da favola in quel di Erba.
When we planned our wedding, we thought at a party in the green, with many friends. We love nature and live in the countryside surrounded by many animals.
Quando abbiamo progettato il nostro matrimonio, abbiamo pensato a una festa nel verde, con tanti amici. Amiamo la natura e viviamo in campagna circondati da moltissimi animali.
The decorations are designed to be as close as possible to the seasonal rhythm. The artist Simone Sirtori used only branches (jujube) and autumn leaves (few!), adding berries malus / arbutus, to recall the passion of the couple for honey and bees; ornamental pumpkins and burrs of chestnuts with added only some branches of chrysanthemums on shades of orange and brick, to accentuate the autumn atmosphere.
Gli addobbi sono stati concepiti per essere il più aderente possibile al ritmo stagionale. L’artista Simone Sirtori ha utilizzato solo rami (di giuggiolo ) e foglie (poche!) autunnali con l’aggiunta di bacche di malus/corbezzolo, per richiamare la passione degli sposi per il miele e le api; zucche ornamentali e gusci di castagne a cui ha aggiunto solo rami di crisantemi sui toni dell’arancio e del mattone, per accentuare l’atmosfera autunnale.
The use of glass jars of different sizes made it possible to give structure and perspective to the table, that was meant to be like a single long belt, open for the meeting and rolled out as a hymn to conviviality. So suggestive as to leave all the guests breathless.
L’uso di vasi di vetro di varie misure ha permesso di dare struttura e prospettiva alla tavola, che e’ stata pensata per essere simile a un unico lungo tappeto, aperto all’incontro e srotolato come un inno alla convivialità. Talmente suggestiva da lasciare tutti i commensali senza fiato.
The bouquet and boutonniere of the spouses, the compositions by the pool, the bouquet launch terminal and the reception desk recalled the same warm colors of autumn. A special fairy-tale atmosphere has also welcomed guests in the Crotto, with the aperitif area and the table with the dragees (the “Crotto” is a man made cave, typical of some ancient villas in the Como lake area).
Il bouquet e la boutonniere degli sposi, le composizioni a bordo piscina, la postazione del lancio bouquet e il tavolo del ricevimento richiamavano le stesse tonalità calde dell’autunno. Particolare anche la zona aperitivo e il tavolo con la confettata, all’interno del Crotto, dove una atmosfera fiabesca ha accolto gli ospiti.
Also a lot of the attention was given to the kitchen. Simple, rustic food made with raw materials of the area of the lake of Como and Valtellina, masterfully transformed by the Paganoni non profit organization and the incomparable chef Rossella into sublime dishes. Invitations, place cards, menus, created and cared for personally by the couple, who practice apiculture with such passion to create jars-favors filled with Wildflower Honey and wondrously adorned with a verse by Emily Dickinson.

In May 2013, my husband George and I were at a crossroads. At the time he was a school teacher and I was a librarian. We were newly married and I had just landed a new job closer to our families. We were also broke.
We didn’t have an extravagant wedding by any standards, but we did spend the majority of our meager savings on the event. We took a look at our budget, started looking at apartments and we were instantly discouraged. We knew that we couldn’t get ahead financially by renting an apartment.
Nel maggio del 2013 mio marito George ed io eravamo ad un punto di svolta. A quel tempo lui era un insegnante ed io bibliotecaria. Eravamo appena spostati ed io avevo appena ottenuto un nuovo lavoro più vicino alle nostre famiglie. Eravamo anche in bolletta. Il nostro matrimonio non fu stravagante in alcun modo, ma spendemmo la maggior parte dei nostri magri risparmi nell’evento. Osservammo il nostro budget ed appena abbiamo iniziato a cercare appartamenti fummo scoraggiati. Sapevamo che non avremmo potuto sopravvivere finanziariamente se avessimo affittato un appartamento.
We also knew that we wouldn’t qualify for a mortgage. We had no credit and almost no savings. We saw an endless cycle of debt in front of us and we wanted out.
Sapevamo anche che non avremmo potuto ottenere un mutuo. Non avevamo credito e sostanzialmente nessun risparmio. La visione era quella di un infinito ciclo di debiti di fronte a noi e non volevamo questo.
We were lying in bed one night talking about our dilemma and I casually mentioned that I had once read an article about a couple that lived in a Winnebago.
Una notte eravamo distesi nel letto a parlare del nostro dilemma ed io casualmente menzionai di aver letto un articolo a proposito di una coppia che viveva a Winnebago.

George took that idea and ran with it. That night we stayed up most of the night surfing the web for travel trailers. The Airstreams we saw on Craigslist were the most appealing, they were stylish and cool and I didn’t feel like we were losing anything. The next four months were a whirlwind of downsizing, moving, buying and fixing the trailer. That was a challenging time. Our Airstream was fairly structurally sound, but it required so much cosmetic work. Luckily George is handy and I am crafty. We’re a good team.
George prese l’idea e si mise a lavorarci. Quella notte restammo alzati per quasi tutto il tempo a cercare su internet delle roulotte da viaggio. Gli “Airstream” che trovammo su Craiglist erano i più interessanti, erano eleganti e alla moda e sentivo che non avremmo perso nulla. I successivi quattro mesi furono un continuo turbine di modifiche, spostamenti, acquisto e sistemazione della roulotte. Fu un periodo impegnativo. Il nostro Airstream era sufficientemente a posto come struttura, ma richiese moltissimo lavoro di finitura estetica. Fortunatamente George è una persona abile nei lavori manuali ed io lo sono nelle decorazioni, siamo un buon team.
It took months of working in the summer sun to get her to our standards. George endured an epic bout of poison ivy from clearing the land our trailer sits on and I had so much paint in my hair that I had to cut it out. We cleaned out rat’s nests and bleached old smoke stains.
Ci vollero mesi di lavoro sotto il sole estivo per portare la roulotte ai nostri standard. George resistette all’attacco dell’edera velenosa pulendo il terreno su cui stava la nostra roulotte ed io avevo così tanta vernice nei capelli che dovetti tagliarli. Sgombrammo i nidi dei topi e sbiancammo le vecchie macchie di fumo.
We pulled up moldy carpet and we laid new floors. We painted so many coats of paint. We built our bed, a desk, a bench and a shelving unit. We sewed curtains and a bench cushion. We replaced the window screens and the fridge.
Tirammo su la moquette ammuffita e posammo una nuova pavimentazione. Dipingemmo una quantità di strati di vernice. Costruimmo il nostro letto, una scrivania, una panca e una scaffalatura, abbiamo cucito le tende e un cuscino per la panca, rimpiazzato le tapparelle delle finestre e il frigo.
It was extremely challenging and extremely rewarding. In August 2013 we moved into our 1978 Airstream Sovereign. We’ve now lived in the Airstream for over three years. The transition has actually been fairly easy. There’s times where it can be challenging though.

Little things can be frustrating in the trailer, but we’ve really learned how to work around them.

We have to be very mindful of the hot water. There are times when I really just want to take a long bath and listen to the hum of a dishwasher, but I don’t have a bathtub or a dishwasher.
Dobbiamo stare attenti all’acqua calda. Ci sono momenti in cui veramente vorrei farmi un lungo bagno ed ascoltare il ronzio di una lavastoviglie, ma non abbiamo una vasca o una lavastoviglie.
We also have to be very cognizant of the things that we bring into the trailer. There’s only 188 square feet, so if we bring one thing in, something else needs to come out.
Dobbiamo anche essere consapevoli di ogni cosa che portiamo nella roulotte. Ci sono solo 188 piedi quadrati, quindi se qualcosa di nuovo entra, qualcosa d’altro deve uscire.
But overall, I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done. In terms of the future, I don’t know what lies ahead of us. We’re currently outfitting our van for camping and I’m really excited about that. I’d love to renovate other vans, RVs or small homes for other people who want to live a similar lifestyle.
Ma complessivamente sono incredibilmente orgogliosa del lavoro che abbiamo fatto. Nel futuro non so cosa sta davanti a noi. Al momento stiamo sistemando il nostro van per fare campeggio e sono molto eccitata di questo. Mi piace rinnovare altri van, veicoli a rimorchio o piccole case per altre persone che vogliono vivere con uno stile simile al nostro.
I’m also currently writing an e-book about our experience that will be published soon. The small lifestyle has given us so much freedom and I am so incredibly grateful.
Sto anche scrivendo un e-book a proposito della nostra esperienza e presto verrà pubblicato. Lo stile di vita in piccolo ci ha dato tanta libertà e sono veramente grata di questo.

Extraordinary winter period, you bring joy and cheerfulness!
Since when I was a child I always loved, the suggestion of the decorations, the lights, so many lights, the candles inside and outside home and those which are reflected in the crystal chandeliers prisms ... The Prism! It’s not just a functional form but highly decorative. That’s why I’ve got the idea to reproduce the shapes of the chandelier’s crystals using paper to create some decorations, practical and easy to carry to be suitable for travelers and people who decide to spend the holidays out of town and want to decorate their glamorous camping homes as tradition requires.

Straordinario periodo invernale, tu porti gioia e allegria! Fin da bambina ho sempre amato la suggestione degli addobbi, le luci, tante luci, quelle delle candele dentro e fuori casa e quelle che si riflettono sui prismi dei lampadari in cristallo… Il prisma! una forma non soltanto funzionale ma altamente decorativa. E’ da qui che mi è venuta l’idea di realizzare le forme dei cristalli dei lampadari utilizzando della carta e creare delle decorazioni che fossero pratiche e facilmente trasportabili, adatte a chi le feste le trascorre fuori città e desidera decorare le proprie abitazioni glamping come vuole la tradizione.

Piegare, ritagliare e incollare… con tre semplici gesti ho ottenuto forme geometriche leggere, impilabili tra loro e facili da trasportare.
They look like small triangles, but by opening and placing inside them a piece of rope they become hanging jewellery. They can be used as decoration even after holidays, during the winter time, easy and not at all cumbersome to store.
Si presentano come piccoli triangoli ma aprendoli e inserendo uno spago si trasformano in gioielli di carta da appendere. Possono essere lasciati come decorazione nelle case anche dopo le feste, nel periodo invernale, facili e per niente ingombranti da riporre.

HotTug
The HotTug is a design by Supergoed: as simple as it is ingenious. Supergoed is owned by Frank de Bruijn, who works on a barge in the port of Rotterdam.
HotTug è un progetto di Supergoed: tanto semplice quanto ingenioso. Supergoed è di proprietà di Frank de Bruijn, che lavora in una chiatta nel porto di Rotterdam.
Frank loves freedom, campfires, open water swimming and meals in the open air and expressed this in many of his designs. For example, the furniture in the ‘Picknick on Wheels’ series or the ‘rocket stove’, made from old barrels. Now with the HotTug project he is expanding his work horizon to the water as well.
Frank ha un amore per il luoghi naturali ed ama la libertà, i fuochi nei campeggi, nuotare in acque aperte e mangiare all’esterno. I suoi progetti riflettono queste passioni, per esempio “picknick sulle ruote” o “la cucina razzo” fatta con vecchie botti per uso all’aria aperta.
The HotTug is a wood-fired hot tub that you can sail and a tug boat in which you can soak in a delicious warm bath. You can move to idyllic spots or simply stay quiet in port.
L’ultimo progetto è “Hot tug” che espande il lavoro di De Bruijn anche all’acqua. La “Hot Tug” è una vasca di acqua calda riscaldata a legna che trasforma un piccolo rimorchiatore in una vasca dove concedersi un bagno caldo mentre si visitano luoghi idilliaci o si resta tranquilli in porto.
The long experience of Frank in his barge helped him to develop a wood-burning underwater stove. This is what heats the 2000 litres of water in the HotTug to a pleasant 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees F.) in a few hours. In his words: “It’s much more than a boat, it’s a vessel with different options. When the tug is filled, there is only a narrow rim between you and the water, making you feel at one with your surroundings.”
La lunga esperienza di Frank sulla chiatta nel porto gli ha permesso di progettare una stufa sottacqua che riscalda, in poche ore, 2000 litri d’acqua fino alla piacevole temperatura di 38 gradi celsius. Dalle sue parole: “E’ più di una barca, è un vascello con differenti opzioni. Quando la vasca è piena, c’è solo uno sottile bordo tra voi e l’acqua esterna, dando una sensazione di essere inglobati nel paesaggio.”
De Bruijn originally trained as a sculptor at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, as an artist he wanted to work in public space, but he soon found out that living on an artist’s grant didn’t give him the money he needed so he started designing and making robust an sturdy furniture. Meanwhile, for many years he has also designed and mounted exhibitions (in collaboration with Ariënne Boelens) for some well-known museums including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the NAI in Rotterdam. The HotTug appears to be mediagenic. It met with great success when it was introduced at the Hiswa boat show in Amsterdam. Now they are exploring the possibilities of producing it in series. Now can be tried in IJlst in the Netherlands (www.werfijlst.nl) and Frank hope to see rental stations for HotTugs in other lakes or rivers where you can already find hot tubs and saunas. And we wish him a full steam future!
De Bruijn ha inizialmente studiato scultura alla Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, voleva lavorare per il pubblico ma ha scoperto che non era sufficiente per mantenersi, così si è messo a creare arredi che costruisce personalmente, semplici e solidi. Ha inoltre progettato e realizzato allestimenti di mostre (in collaborazione con Ariënne Boelens) per alcuni ben conosciuti musei tra cui il Museo Boijmans Van Beuningen e il NAI di Rotterdam. Il progetto Hot Tug ha un ottimo impatto mediatico, e successo al Hiswa boat show di Amsterdam. Ingredients:
350gr berries 4 eggs 1 lime 25gr sugar 50gr white caster sugar Icing sugar Mint leaves
Ingredienti 350gr di frutti di bosco misti 4 uova 1 lime 25gr di zucchero 50gr di zucchero di canna bianco zucchero a velo foglie di menta
Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Divide the eggs and put 3 egg yolks in a large bowl (the fourth is not used). Whisk the egg whites and the white caster sugar till you have soft peaks .
Scaldare il forno a 200 gradi. Dividere le uova e mettere 3 tuorli in una grande terrina (il quarto non si usa). Montare a neve compatta tutti gli albumi aggiungendo lo zucchero bianco di canna.
Add into the egg yolks the grated rindยนs Lime and 25 grams of sugar, mix the ingredients with a mixer. Gently combine the egg whites using a spatula.
Aggiungere ai tuorli la buccia grattuggiata del lime e i 25grammi di zucchero, con un mixer amalgamare gli ingredienti. Unire delicatamente gli albumi montati usando una spatola.
Butter a baking sheet dusted with icing sugar. Spread the mixture evenly and sprinkle with more icing sugar. Bake for 15 minutes.
Imburrare una teglia e spolverare con un poยน dello zucchero a velo. Distribuire il composto in modo uniforme e spolverare con altro zucchero a velo. Infornare per 15 minuti.
Decorate with berries and fresh mint leaves.
Decorare con i frutti di bosco e le foglie di menta fresca.

The “Egg Nogg” it’s a drink from the american tradition of Christmas that cannot be missed. During the Texas revolution, a group of texan prisoners, not willing to give up to their Egg Nogg, for Christmas they invented a version of the drink with a base of agave, the only distilled that the mexican soldiers allowed to their american prisoners. As gourmets, we tried to make it even more tasty a recipe already full of flavor.
L’Egg Nogg è un drink immancabile nella tradizione natalizia statunitense. Durante la Rivoluzione Texana, un gruppo di prigionieri texani, pur di non rinunciare al loro Egg Nogg, festeggiarono il Natale con una versione del drink a base agave, distillato che i soldati messicani concessero ai loro prigionieri americani. Da buongustai, abbiamo cercato di rendere ancor più golosa una ricetta già ricca di sapore.
Ingredients Three slices of banana A spoon of demerara brown sugar 22.5 ml of banana cream 15 ml of Rum Demerara Overproof 45 ml of spiced Rum 90 ml o milk 1 entire egg 2/3 dash of Chocolate bitters Crush the fruit in the bottom of a cocktail shaker, add the milk and dissolve well. Add egg and beat well. Finally add alcoholic bases, shake and serve in a special mug or in a very large collins. Garnish with a toothpick, two banana slices and three or four of strawberry and half of the egg shell, clean and filled with dark chocolate flakes.
Tre fettine di banana Uno spoon di zucchero demerara 22.5 ml di creme de banana 15 ml Rum Demerara Overproof 45 ml Rum Speziato 90 ml di latte 1 uovo intero 2/3 dash di Chocolate bitters Pestare la frutta nel fondo di uno shaker, aggiungere il latte e sciogliere bene la base. Aggiungere l’uovo e montare bene. Unite infine le basi alcoliche, shakerate e servite in una special mag o in un collins molto capiente. Guarnire con uno stuzzicadenti, due fettine di banana e tre o quattro di fragola e metà del guscio dell’uovo, pulito e riempito con scaglie di cioccolato fondente.
