Jolly Josh - new opportunities to connect, support & thrive

Castleton based children’s Centre, Jolly Josh has introduced two new sessions to help families in the area living with complex medical needs and physical disabilities to get together, support each other and thrive.

Wednesday mornings are fast becoming ‘Wonderful Wednesday’ for Early Year families as they join in Baby Splash Together sessions in the Hydrotherapy Pool. Specifically for children living with complex medical needs and/or physical disabilities aged 0-5 years, along with their carers, and hosted by Hydro Lead Natalie Baker, everyone enjoys the warmth and freedom of the water, rhymes, singing, splashing and of course, lots of smiles!

And after the pool session, once everyone is dried and dressed, tots and their family can move into the Multi-Function Room to enjoy Sing and Sign with Session Facilitator, Anna Schofield.

The second new initiative for 2023 is a great opportunity to meet other people who are caring for someone with complex medical needs and/or physical disabilities, over a light lunch. Coffee & Catch-up is a monthly drop-in session, and a great place to make new connections and share experiences.

“These monthly informal lunchtime sessions have already proved popular, and some amazing new connections made” said Sarah Ford, Jolly Josh Centre Manager, adding “It’s great to hear everyone chatting, laughing, sharing experiences and making new friends.”

Coffee & Catch-up at The Jolly Josh Centre, is on the first Friday of every month (except April which is on Friday 31st of March) between 12 and 2pm, finishing just in time for the school run. The session is free of charge, including lunch, and the young person you care for is welcome to join in too.
