CUE On CUE AW20
Every Australian woman has a Cue moment at some point in time. Here’s why this iconic brand is still hanging in the wardobes of women everywhere.
Tell us about the AW20 collection: Winter is always an exciting time for Cue, it’s an opportunity to have fun with fashion by layering prints, textures and fabrications. This collection pays homage to youth culture through the decades and the subsequent melting pot of fashion, art and culture. Focusing on the rebellious and youthful energy of subcultures past and present – we’re inviting you on a journey of reinvention. The colours this season are anything but dull with intense black separates (yes, black is the new black!) setting the foundation for an autumnal palette of russet, scarlet and camel. New season prints amplify the diverse designs in the collection, while checks continue to be an enduring part of the Cue girl’s winter wardrobe.
Describe the Cue woman: The Cue woman is more of a mentality than a profession, style or age. At the core of our brand is a focus on being new, innovative and fashion-forward. She is modern, energetic and driven – eager to push the boundaries and be ahead of the fashion curve!
How has the Cue brand developed since its inception over 50 years ago? We are incredibly proud of the history we have in the Australian fashion industry; 50 years is no small feat! We’re delighted that many women have grown up with Cue, but mostly we’re excited that Cue continues to grow anew with every generation. It is the quality we’ve refined over 50 years of manufacturing that enable us to be consistently young and new – testing the boundaries of design and style.
How would you describe the Australian fashion landscape? The landscape is definitely changing, customers are more conscious of their buying ability and their contribution to the overall industry. We’ve noticed a resurgence in the demand in quality tailoring and manufacturing, it’s exciting to see the desire for beautifully crafted clothing.
Three pieces that every woman should have in their wardrobe: A blazer! Plain or printed – your wardrobe will always have a place for it. Next would be a go-to midi dress, wear with an edgy winter boot or crisp white sneaker for a new take on a classic cut. Lastly, your wardrobe will always be elevated with a traffic-stopping print. Pare it back with black or clash with other prints – the key is to have fun!
What’s next for Cue? With our winter collection already in stores, we can’t quite believe it but we’re well and truly designing for our Summer 2020 campaign. There is a buzz in our Sydney Design Studio as we enjoy our customers’ response to the current season while working on new styles for the next collection! So, stay tuned, it always gets bigger and better and summer will be no exception.
