“Brussels sprouts are one of the most popular items that we put in our veg boxes. Love or hate them, the lovers definitely outnumber the haters. Best eaten from November when the colder weather causes the leaves to drop and the sprouts to be exposed, through to late February when the sprout tops are all that’s left. A long and slow growing plant, sprouts are typically planted out around midsummer’s day and nurtured for more than half a year before arriving on your Christmas table.
When it comes to cooking Christmas sprouts I think simple is best: lots of butter and good stock make the most delicious caramelised sprouts.”
