The nationally acclaimed artist Hubert Phipps and the luxury Italian coachbuilder ARES Modena launched a new exhibition during Art Basel Miami that debuted the first ARES Modena showroom in North America, in the Miami Design District.
A sculptor and painter, Phipps was also a national racecar champion and is a pilot, coming up on his 50th anniversary as an aviator. The exhibition Hubert Phipps: Ascending features several works born out of the artist’s love for acceleration and for aerodynamic forms.
“I am honored to have been invited by ARES Miami to present this collaboration during Art Basel Miami,” said Hubert Phipps. “ARES is one of the world’s leading studios of high-performance design and stellar engineering is igniting new inspirations in my artmaking.”
The title of this show reflects the growing national recognition of the artist (as museums and collectors across the country acquire his works), with Phipps’ history with racecars and aircraft. In addition to the launch of the exhibition during the week of Art Basel, the artist and ARES Miami are planning events in January with some of Phipps’ world-renowned racing colleagues from his time as a professional racecar driver.
The new ARES S1 supercar model was flown from Italy to Miami, and has never been shown in North America. The one-of-a-kind, automotive work of art will be the centerpiece for this exhibition, surrounded by sculptures and artworks by Phipps that are seen as a perfect fit with the creative aesthetic behind ARES Modena’s singular success in automotive design.
Only 24 versions of the ARES S1 supercar will be created in the entire world, each tailor-made to the client’s desires and taste, making each design unique. The ARES S1’s dramatic low-profile is similar to racing prototypes from the 70s and 80s.
Hand-crafted in carbon fiber, the curvaceous wheel arches, with sculptured side skirts and forward sitting cockpit, give a sleek yet aggressive stance.
The S1 is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 delivering power to the wheels via an 8-speed dual clutch transmission. The interior combines the finest Alcantara and Napa leather that is quilted in specific areas.
The sculptures and artworks by Phipps in this exhibition rev up the space in the ARES Miami showroom, apace with the supercar’s electrifying spirit: Sky Temple, Voyager, Arch, Lava Flow, Africa 1, and Africa 2, plus a maquette-sized version of Rocket from the private collection of real estate magnate Lawrence Moens.
The exhibition also features Phipps’ signature paint pigment drawings: Momentum, Current, Impulse, and Rhythm.

In prefacing this introduction, we’d like to offer an observation, which should be of interest to all. Regardless of medical school class rankings, graduates are all referred to as “DOCTOR.” With this revelation, we should all know that when choosing a physician, one must accept responsibility for adequately researching the doctor he or she is considering.
Within our present day society, most licensed to practice medicine are truly miracle workers whether they are completely restructuring someone’s face or saving a life. As much as we realize that every physician is an asset to our community, we also know that some have established themselves at the top of their profession and are considered special; these are the ‘elite,’ the very best of the best.
When seeking perfection, we search for the professional who has made it his or her life goal to excel within a field of specialization through many years of study, dedication and determination, continually challenging themselves to advance their knowledge; these brilliant human beings not only save lives but also enrich their communities with a skill set second to none. Beyond this and in order to stay abreast of the latest, almost daily changing medical advancements, the ‘elite’ undergo rigorous maintenance, updating through seminars, conferences and advanced studies to keep current with new technology and procedures.
In adding our ‘Orlando’s Doctors of the Year’ section with this issue, we present a group of physicians, all of whom are reputable, Board Certified in their areas of expertise, extremely well recognized within our community and chosen by their peers. Our objective is to initiate a continuing dialogue with our readers, with an aim toward personalizing some of the finest doctors available.

From life-saving skin cancer treatment such as Mohs micrographic surgery, to routine skin care needs and expert aesthetic procedures, Dr. Steppie and his team are dedicated to providing patients state-of-the-art care. Loyal patients value a customized approach to treatment, rather than a one-size-fits-all diagnosis at Associates in Dermatology.
In addition to being selected as Orlando’s Doctors of the Year by Style Magazine 10 years in a row, Dr. Steppie’s group received the status of 'Super Performers,’ ranking in the top percentile (above 90%) of the merit-based incentive payment system (MIPS), through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for several consecutive years. MIPS was adopted by the CMS pledge to put patients first. The performance is measured through the data clinician’s report in four critical areas.

Dr. Steppie wants to remind patients to schedule their skin-check visit because “the best gift you can give yourself or your loved ones is the gift of good health.”
Dr. Steppie and team are staying committed to excellence in the year ahead. “In 2022, we will continue to stay on top of cutting-edge treatments and new healthcare technologies that deliver the highest quality of care and convenience, while remaining diligent in keeping our patients safe in our practices,” he concluded.

carriers. Beyond skin disorders, the practice also treats disorders of the hair and nails at each of the 17 locations.

HOW YOU BREATHE MATTERS: Your mouth is the largest access to the inside of your body. In this season, where many breathe through the mouth, it is essential to understand how crucial nasal breathing is to decrease the effects of disease such as Covid-19.
Nasal breathing warms and lubricates the air you breathe, protecting your respiratory system. It also increases oxygen levels in your blood, a natural vasodilator increasing systemic healing. But, most importantly, it cleans the air you are breathing by stimulating NO (Nitric Oxide) produced in the nose and sinuses. NO is a potent antimicrobial against VIRUSES, bacteria, and fungi and is active in nasal breathing. In addition, nose hairs protect us from dust, allergens, and foreign particles. It's said up to 20 billion per day.
FROM DR. WENDI'S DESK: Humming is known to increase the body's NO. So if you add humming to your nasal breathing, you will trigger your parasympathetic nervous system, which in turn causes RELAXATION. :) NO is good for our health and wellness and can also be found in green vegetables. Nasal breathing while wearing a mask is also known to reduce headaches and dizziness.
