Mixing Colours
Over three hundred years ago in 1692, an 800-page book Traité des couleurs servant à la peinture à l’eau was written in Dutch about mixing watercolours. The book describes the use of colour, hues and tones in painting. It’s quite extraordinary that this amazing hand written and hand painted detailed book has survived all this time. We here at Styling Magazine honour the man, the author, known only as A.Boogert who produced this comprehensive guide to paint and colour. There was only a single copy ever produced and seen by very few. We have picked some colorful palettes from his book and have added them along side our scrapbook style layout showcasing some of the works of our favourite artists featured in our previous issues.
