The founder of Thirty-One Gifts is Cindy Monroe. She was a woman with a dream. She created ThirtyOne Gifts 10 years ago in her basement with her best friend. It has now grown to a 2.3-billion-dollar company with over 100,000 consultants in the States. We officially launched here in Canada (Ontario only currently) on Sept. 1, 2012. According to the Direct Selling News, Thirty-One Gifts was ranked #18 on its’ 2013 DSN Global 100, a list of the top revenue-generating direct selling companies in the world. One thing I know is that people everywhere are excited to learn about our high-quality products, budget friendly specials and fun, flexible income opportunity. In fact, many women are now coming up to me telling me “I love Thirty-One Gifts!”. You’ll hear that, too, as you tell people about your new business. I'm a Thirty-One Consultant!! NOW WHAT? 1) Think about your "WHY" and your “GOALS”. What do you want? More fun? More money? A more flexible schedule? More savings for the future? Whatever you want, achieving it begins when you set goals. Goals are simply dreams with deadlines. Take some time now to write them down. Starting this business was your first step. Your commitment, enthusiasm and steady ACTION will move you closer to success! 2) Log into your Back Office and personalize your website so that your website name appears as you like it. You can change it to have your initials, first name etc., instead of your ID number after the forward slash. You can also add a little about yourself in the "About Me" section – personalize this to reflect your “Why”. 3) Mark your StartSwell dates in your calendar and print off the StartSwell tracker from TOT (in the Incentives tab, under StartSwell). Make it a goal to earn your StartSwell Kit for FREE!! 4) While you are waiting for your kit, visit ThirtyOneToday.ca (TOT) and get familiar with the website just for Consultants. Check out all the useful info for new Consultants in the Toolbox as well as under the Incentives tab, StartSwell section. 5) Refer back to your goals and contact your Director to work on a plan for making them happen. Take a look at the "Career Path" which can be so important to growing your business and achieving your goals. It is confusing but your Director can explain this to you. 6) Create your list of 62 (31 doubled) - this is your original list of contacts. Use the FRANKS system to generate the list - Friends, Relatives, Acquaintances, Neighbours, Kids' connections (teachers, coaches, parents of friends, etc.), Spouse's connections. 7) Take control of your calendar! Know what dates you are available for parties. 8) Get on the phone, text, email or Facebook and schedule your first four to six home parties, including your own launch party (see #9). Set the Dates.
9) Schedule your "Business Kick-Off Party" (we recommend doing this as soon as possible to get you off to a fast start with your startswell program. Ask if you need to borrow product before your kit arrives). Design a flier or invitation and mail to EVERYONE you know. Invitation templates are available on TOT in the Toolbox. Create an Event if you are a Facebook user. 10) Talk to your sponsor about getting added to the Consultant Facebook Closed Groups. These groups are intended to help you in your business. They offer great support, tools and knowledge. Here is a list of some of the Closed Groups available: Team Thompson – Canadian Purse-onalities https://www.facebook.com/groups/thirtyone.liz.directs/ Lindsay O’Connor’s Canadian Lineage (your SED) https://www.facebook.com/groups/teamoconnor/ Creative Canadian Facebook Flyers https://www.facebook.com/groups/cr3at1veflyers/ ** Be sure to check out all the resources within groups - they will be in the "Files Section" and "Photos" Section. 11) Think about creating your own Facebook Closed Group for all your friends, contacts, customers etc. This is a great way to advertise your business, the monthly specials, and any other promos that may be going on. Please read the section on Social Media in your Consultant Guidebook (found in Toolbox on TOT) to be sure you are following all the rules. 12) Open a separate checking account and possibly credit card account for your business. It is much easier for tracking income and expenses, especially at tax time when you will be able to write-off a lot of your office expenses. There are plenty of no-fee credit cards available. 13) Use the New Consultant Training on www.ThirtyOneToday.ca (TOT) to guide your learning. It is found on the top right of the Home page. You can do small sections at a time and revisit sections as needed. You will also find other helpful tools on here such as the "How to Order Guide" to help you in setting up your events (parties) on your website, and then creating the order once you have completed the party. There is a lot more training under the Incentives tab, StartSwell section. 14) Set up a time to discuss questions and your plans with your Director/Sponsor. She and I want to help, but we need you to let us know where you need it! 15) Commit to making three calls/texts per day from your list of 62 until you have enough parties on your calendar to complete the StartSwell incentive. 16) Input all the contacts you have into your Back Office or through the Thirty-One app. 17) Personalize your Thoughts, Talks & Trends newsletter. You receive this service for free for up to your fist 1200 days (when you qualify for each Startswell) and then there is a monthly charge of $12.95 for your website and $2.00 for the newsletter service. It is a very worthwhile investment as this is a newsletter that goes to all your customers on your behalf. This is a great way to promote your business and stay in touch. You will even receive an Activity Report that shows you who has clicked through for more information. This is valuable information for being able to offer exceptional customer service.
18) Make or Order a stamp or labels for your catalogues and business cards. Include your name, phone number, email, website, & Facebook group address. If you have any questions about either of these, ask your sponsor or Director what they do. Great prices are available on www.vistaprint.ca 19) Find a local Better Together meeting near you. A list of upcoming meetings can be found on TOT. They are usually scheduled every other month and are great opportunities to make connections and ignite your business! Also plan on attending our own team meetings that happen outside these larger Better Together meetings. You are in business for yourself but you are not by yourself. Use your team members for help and support. They will be valuable to your future growth and success. 20) Get Organized! Create some type of filing system. You will want to keep up with all your receipts, party bookings, contacts, etc. so set up a system to track this. Talk to your sponsor to see how she does it. My Kit Has Arrived!! Now What? 21) Your Kit is Here!!! Take a picture of your New Consultant Box BEFORE opening it!! E-mail this out to everyone letting them know that if they want to see what's inside the box, they can come to your Business Kick-off Party, book their own party or ask for a catalogue. 22) Call your Director! I want to share in your excitement and go over everything you have to make sure nothing was left out. 23) Make packets! Now that you have the materials, you can make 6 Hostess Packets, 6 Opportunity Packets and 20 Customer Packets. A suggested list of items for each packet can be found on TOT. 24) Prepare for your first party!! Read through your catalogues and start writing down questions you have about products. Get familiar with current and next month's Hostess & Customer Specials. Check out TOT for videos that can get you started! 25) Plan your Party Demonstration. If possible, shadow your Sponsor or another team member at one of their parties, read your Guidebook for suggestions and go to TOT for help. Use your “newness” as your advantage when giving your first few parties. Everyone wants to see you succeed and will support your efforts. Learning takes time so have fun in the process. Your party presentation will evolve as you find what you are comfortable with. Use your own style and be natural. The guests will appreciate this more than anything. 26) Set up a time to discuss questions with your Director/Sponsor that you have about your first party. 27) Make sure you check the Business Update on Thirtyonetoday.ca BEFORE each party. This will let you know of any back-ordered items or stop-sell items. 28) Hold your First Party!! 29) Refer to the "How to Order Guide" on TOT to help you input and submit your first party order. If you need additional help, consider setting up a time with your sponsor to help you with your first order or call CAGS. Be sure to have your list of questions ready.
30) Reflect upon what worked and what you need to improve upon before your next party. 31) Call/text or e-mail to let your Director/Sponsor know how everything went. And of course, HAVE FUN!!!! Always think about your “31 Why” and the reason you are doing this business. It is normal to feel the “ups and downs” of being an entrepreneur, so the stronger your “WHY”, your reason for succeeding in this business, the more successful you will be. Think about buying some books or reading online about the Party Plan business and adopt some of the strategies that those who have had success have implemented in their businesses. Always remember your TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) and lean on them for any questions you may have. We all want you to be successful and enjoy this exciting experience. Most of all GOOD LUCK and best wishes for great success!!! Always believe in yourself!!!!
